Its still a legal boat in the SBI rules. Im sure it will run up front there. Like I said before I always thought it was a 30 foot boat. There is no more voting at this time in OPA. The new rules are being posted for the 2013 season. Looks like a strong class with 9 boats so far. Extras would make 10 if he choses to race with us.

That's funny. They played the political game and won. Not only took away our votes but also our voice.

Bilgerat 03-27-2013 05:08 PM

Is that new cool boat being measured properly? Didnt JD Byrider run into some sort of measurement issue once? If its measured the way i mentioned and that is the correct way, and it is still 1'6" too long, then Hacksaw the nose off it and take one of Typhoons sealed engines and show em whats up. Make the front end that is now Blunt, the mouthpiece of a large Duck Call painted on the bow, Get sponsorship from the Dynasty guys. Done Deal. Oh yeah ....can i drive ?

Wow that really sucks for him.. but the negitive is I'm sure other builders will think twice before building a new boat to compete in SVL. The plus is your older boats will always be competitive if no new are allowed in.

6 of 1, 1/2 dozen of the other so they say..

Lauderdaleboats 03-27-2013 09:08 PM

I'll run in SBI, even though losing 18 inches is not a big issue. I'm sure even at 30 feet if I showed up and changed the game there would be all kinds of mid season voting going on. I would probably be weighing 6000Lbs by the third race.

Lauderdaleboats 03-27-2013 09:14 PM

And just to be clear. I have no hard feelings toward OPA or The SVL competitors. Your rules are your rules. I'm sure at some point the 'Doc' will show up with a sealed motor if that's where the majority of boats are running. And the voting will begin!!!!

phragle 03-27-2013 10:54 PM

Just get it wet and throw it in the dryer for a cycle or two... that usually makes all my long sleeve t-shirts shrink to the point the sleeves end at my elbows on the first wash... on a 30 foot boat that should be good for at least 2 feet. Add a box of dryer sheets for that spring time fresh sent and your golden!!

We didn't have any issues with the Phantom........

Chris, are you 31'6" to the top of the transom or the end of the bustle?

smiklos@sunprint 03-28-2013 07:11 AM

I can answer this:
Randy boats used to be fast. His "changes" have made it a turd. In 2010 it would run side by side with My boat in KW. Now rather than fix it and make it run properly. He would rather travel around at that embarrassing pace he displayed in Jupiter. I have 2 sealed OSS 525's A Factory sealed 525. Want to do it again like KW Randy? You can pick which 525 we use.

Steve why are you so nice to me and we have good conversations at the race sites and then when you get on the computer you constantly attack me and blame me. First its my fault APBA Offshore fell apart then I destroyed the SVL class then it was I never help Offshore and now its all about me and my selfish ways. After years of reading your insulting post about me and I cant think of a single time I threw you under the bus I have to think you must just be looking to pass the buck on what you have failed to do. If you couldnt do any of the above then anyone else who tries has to fall short of your expectations of yourself. If you want to challenge me on the race course then I except. I will be racing with OPA and LOTTO with my sealed merc.525. put one of your legal sealed motor's in and come kick my butt. Man up or shut up!!! You are a sad example of a defeated guy. I will continue to do what I believe to be right for the teams I race with. Im not looking to have a fight so please lets take the high road and not get into this. Now we both took shots at each other and the challange has been excepted by me. I will see you at the OPA races. Bring your A game you will be the 10th boat now in the fleet and its growing by the day.

I am sure it will be a super secret meeting where only the boats that want you out will be invited. It is a club within a class

Randy a seal is a seal. In 2010 I was not allowed to race svl because I had no seals. Jim Simmons was so nice to offer to have his engine builder put a set of seals on so I could race. I said no thanks but now you want me to believe that all the seals used by the svl club are real. Seals only protect the cheaters

He can always drop back to class 6. Some of our boats are faster than an SVL. Just saying. We let almost anybody in.....we'll run beside him at 90+!! :lolhit::angry-smiley-038:

Randy a seal is a seal.

Not so! There are various types of seals: Harbor Seals, Harp Seals, Hawaiian Monk Seals, Navy Seals, just to name a few!

Tugit has been sold, by the way.

TYPHOON 03-28-2013 11:24 AM

The seals are just one layer of protection. They are not the holly grail of protection against cheeting. There will be tec above and beond the seals. Please dont anyone asume or even think that if you have seals on your motor that you wont be tec'ed. We all are looking forward and not in the rear view mirror. We dont want to get all hung up with what wasnt done in the past. Its a new year going forward and things are looking great for this class for the first time in a long time. We must be doing something right.

Wazzup Racing 03-28-2013 11:24 AM

Holy shi# Tuggit was for sale.

We all know the power is made in the heads. If "somebody's" engine builder takes the heads and intake Manfold off and ports them how can you tec that? You have to take the heads off to look and we all know nobody in the SVL club will have theirs taken apart. Please explain the tec procedure so I can explain how you are full of sh!t

smiklos@sunprint 03-29-2013 09:35 AM

Randy you constantly do this and have for a decade now. If you are going to have a meeting invite everyone. How many times have you done this? As you saw in Jupiter Willy and Larry were just as fast as us. Their engine was well used, their boat was not bastardized. The fact that you were not up front rest's directly between your ears. Rather than fix your boat you once again change everything to suit yourself. The fact that you always refuse data logging that is a one time $1200 fix to all of this is quite odd. If you check with Bob Owen you will see ran 250 lbs heavier and logged all of our data at 10hz. Bob was able to confirm our max speed RPM acceleration etc. That is much more valid then a sealing system that was corrupted 9 years ago and raises the cost of rebuilds by $5000.

2 Trick Rick 03-29-2013 11:09 AM

1 Attachment(s)
data logging for 1200$ seems better on the surface than sealing..

TYPHOON 03-29-2013 01:39 PM

I dont remember complaining about my performance in Jupiter. I also remember Wil and Larry running more out of control than I have ever seen there boat and they will tell you the same. I aploud Wil's effort to run that hard like it was the last 100 yards of a race. They ran like that for miles while you ran nice and flat with an exra HP advantage. I congratulated Steve Kildal on his victory as I recall. I will say it again. Great job Steve Kildal on your win in Jupiter. You did an outstanding job from start to finish and a well deserved win.
A decade of secret meetings ???????? LOL WTF are you dreaming up now. You have to do better than that.
I think its great you run a data logger. I have NEVER said it was a bad idea. It never seemed to get any traction with the majority as the fail safe. Not sure why, I personaly liked it. Maybe you should have spent the time and energy calling the teams and explain the pros and cons instead of putting a post on a forum and expect the teams to jump at your idea. Oh thats right that would be considerd secret calls.
This is getting old and I dont think most give a hoot about what you think of me. Lets stop the history lessons and just race.

Wazzup Racing 03-29-2013 03:04 PM

This can't possibly be the same Randy Schleuss. You gatta admit, he's doing a great job on the high road.
Even Steve can't bait him on. Just my own obsevation of a guy who sat back and watched the SVL race in Jupiter. Mistake number one by OPA. Allowing the Vortech's 5600 rpm, following the old rule when the Vortech's were not as strong as the 525. The extra RPM allowed them to be one prop pitch shorter. Advantage in the rough. Obviously the Vortech has been improved upon over the years. Should have matched them in RPM. The Vortech's are in the 600 range in power, 525, 560 range. It showed. Blind man could see the difference. The teams that race up north wanted to stick with the merc sealed 525. They have done a great job in putting the class back together. Steve, Steve, and Mark should have been consulted, but I believe the mindset was they were either selling their boats, or racing with SBI. If either of you seriously want to race with OPA you have my number, I am available all week. Give me a call. I know I have been hard to reach of late, but most of the Sandy caios is over and things are settling down. There is no itention to eliminate anyone. Just needed to have a solid set of rules. Randy is just a team in all this drama, just like the rest. No reason to single him out. Lets work towards a resolution. Smitty

No answer? Is that because you know I am right? There is no way to tec so you have rules you can't enforce.

TYPHOON 04-02-2013 07:11 AM

Im not a motor builder but if you took off your headers and intake couldnt you see if there was head work??? How do they do it in other orgs you have raced in for years? If we made that part of Tec will you race with us?

I am not a motor builder either but I think you have to break the top seal to remove the intake. If I had a sealed motor I would not want my seal broken. I don't want to add any more tec I just want to bring the red headed step child and race.

TYPHOON 04-02-2013 09:24 AM

I agree with you on that. I will check to see if the motors intakes are sealed. They are a 2 piece intake upper and lower. I think the seal may only be on the bottom half.

WazzupRacing2 04-04-2013 02:43 PM

My personal opinion, one is the teams not on the call simply could have resolved this by a post stating "Missing teams on SVL call, sort of upset can we have a call including everyone" but the childish manor in which this situation has been handled seems so drain the sympathy from my heart. I dont know the answers to the issues on this post nor do i really care, but the immaturity shown here is mind boggling, i dont post much because of this specific reason, this is not facebook kids, this is a glorified blog where FANS and future CONTESTANTS come to converse and read about the PRODUCTIVITY of the sport. SO stop the bickering, call an OPA official such as Smitty, work this out like big boys, because up here we hold a level of respect for our peers, and i dont beleive i speak for myself when i say, the attitudes and drama are most definitely not welcome, lose those two things and we can move on from there but seeing as Mr.Prez has made numerous posts trying to work out and defuse the situation i feel theres a little disrespect here. Im not attacking anyone just upset by this, would love to see you girls kiss and make up because SVL is my highlight of the day. My two cents.
Boomer :duel:

Based on the speed that he lists in the ad, maybe somebody should jump to buy it. Randy?

Miklos should keep the sealed motor and go thump the "svl club". They wouldn't stand a chance!
