loyalty incentives

Does anyone else think there should be some sort of loyalty incentives for teams that pre register for each race they attend, years raced, and events per year they race. I believe there are teams that go out of there way to do most if not all the OPA races. These teams travel, spend lots of money, go were there is a possibility of a low boat count in there class and basically give the org some sort of boat count they can sell to a race producer.
Most teams are small business owners so can you imagine having to run your business the way this org has to do it. How could any of us sell our products or services on a pure guess. Yet this is exactly what we are asking org's to do. Why don't we help them with some sort of calendar of events that we can make?
Reward the teams that do give the effort!!!!! Is it fair to just show up when its convenient for ourselves and expect the same treatment?
Thoughts???

Yea, $100 off entry fee per race!!, oh, we don't have entry fees

Im not trying to help myself but trying to help any org that has a problem with knowing who will show at races. It seems to me that when ever anyone ask who will be there no one ever knows for sure. Why is it not something a race producer should have and be able to advertise and promote? How nice would it be to have a running list of committed teams that are going to be there. Maybe Im reaching for the stars.
Ideas.
1) Not less entry fee but more for the occasional racer. Some kind of sliding scale per race from last year.
2) Additional points for pre entry like SBI
3) Bigger share of the purse if there is one
4) Free room's
5) more weighted vote on votes

These are just off the top of my head ideas. The 80/20 rule applies here as well. 20% of the teams do 80% of the racing. Not that its a bad thing, just is what it is. People like to feel like they are being treated fairly or you run the risk. If we all were not looking for attention then we wouldn't have all our titles, flags, wins and accomplishments posted all over our trucks,boats,shirts,e-mails,facebook,web sites ect. LOL. All people have a need for recognition so why not give it!

I think you'll see a better consistency to opa attendance when the races are where the racers are. Ie. The east coast. Till then it is what it is.

After all we are the Jersey Boys. I'm with you

I think half the teams don't know week to week if they will make any of the races.

True statement for me! Being a young one man team and having to pay all the boat, race and maintenence bills with an average 9-5 job, I never know if I can afford to go racing until last minute. Yea I would love to be able to hit every race but I have a hard time trying to make just the Michigan races. I'm probably not the only small team in that situation. Smitty has always been extremely fair with travel and purse money. Isn't that bonus enough?

Once again I must not have been clear on my intent. Bad title to the post. My driving desire is helping the race promoters and race org sell race sites. How do we the racers help them secure race sites and get the money need from these towns. They have to go to potential sponsors that pay to have us there. If they dont know what they are selling (boat count) they have a hard time explaining what someone is buying. Im most cases its a pure guess. If you sold your product (boats count) at work and it was less than what the customer(sponsor's) was expecting how hard would it be to resell that customer. IMO we are asking our promoters to put there names and reputations on the line to secure sites and we the racers have a problem with a letter of intent as to which races we can attend. This is my point.
How we might be able to achieve this is threw racer incentives. Just asking racers which races they are going to never has worked in the past. It is absolutely OK to just do 1 or 2 local races a year but some how the orgs need to know way in advance.
If Im rambling I will delete this thread. Im trying to move forward on a problem our sport has had for years. Nothing changes if you dont think there is a problem. Clearly IMO there is a problem do you?
