Is there anyone looking for a class 7 boat? I have a 1993 21ft checkmate looking to sell cheap because i hate the boat and it hates me even more.
Long story shot the engine looses water pressure when on plane. I think the problem is with the low water pickup being restricted because its the only parts not replaced. when the boat is driving at no wake speed or at idle i have 7-9 psi in the head. trailer has all new bunks and tires. Hull is rock stolid with no rot. I wanted to race it but just want it out of my life now. Ill sell it for 4000 obo http://i741.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps6f129b3e.jpg http://i741.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps7e55cab0.jpg http://i741.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps34ee4809.jpg |

I have acquired an old 22 velocity, Was a sterndrive boat,, however its rotten everywhere, Is this worth putting in a transom, and some gussets, along with a new floor, to try and compete in the class 7 wars? What engine and steering setup would work best on this? Or is someone else more interested in it than I am. I was trying to focus more on my Corsa. Need to have something racing this year.

Some great news concerning CLASS 7...there is another new team in the works based out a Maine.Details will be posted soon.Really looking forward to a great 2014 racing seaon.HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Man this class is kicking butt!! Congratulations to all the teams participating, class seven rules!!
|
started in on the 22' Velocity today. Got plenty o rot to lose, but on the plus side, I will know exactly what I got when done. I will probably go w my own transom knee plan. But does anyone have some inner transom pics, from an outboard 22 ?
|
BilgeRat,
I hate to send anyone to another site, but on Scream and Fly, under the Fiberglass & Composit section, there is 5 pages of info on redoing a 22 Velocity transom. One of the posters use to work for Velocity and has alot of good information. Hope you can join us in class 7!!! |

Im still gettin with the Corsa, but the reality is costs will be much less, to get the Velocity rollin in 7, Probably more realistic to get done in time for this season. Still slowly messing with accumulating engine components for the Corsa,

Hey everyone, my search for a hull for class 7 continues. Have found a couple of possibilities but they are all fairly far away and difficult to go look at and make a good buying decision. In my hunt I have come up with the following list of potential hulls. Thought I would toss them out for others input...etc. Even with all these makes there seems to be a shortage of used hulls especially up here in New England. I'm determined to be at the first race in May.
Shadow-21, Apache-22, Velocity-22, Rally Sport-21, Checkmate-21, Falcon-21, Hustler-21, Super Boat-21. Progression-22 Power Play-? Allison -? Nordic 20 and 21 Lo Mocean 20 Defender 21 Carrera 21 Activator 22 Red Line 21 |
Cant go wrong with any of the 21 Linder designed boats......Challenger and Shadow. The Challenger doesnt have the notch that the Shadow has, which may help in big water. I dont believe a 21 Superboat has the notch either. Whatever you do, Id stick with a 2.5L engine. The Apache is built well, but very heavy and rather slow. I think the Checkmate is more of a pleasure boat, but Mr.Determination is a Check and runs well.
I think thge 21 Super/Shadow/Challenger/Activator/Apache/Hustler etc will run a little better in rough water than the Velocity...much smaller pad. All of what you posted are solid competitors though. |
Based on the response at The Great Race On The Sea meeting last week in Freeport, NY; I think we will have a few more teams joing the CLASS 7 fleet in 2014!

Well Guys, I am working at it like a dog. Been tearing out rotten transom wood. Ordered up some dash panels to cover old holes, got in some new gauges, and a motor bracket. Trying to find the appropriate engine, made an offer on an old mercury, but haven't heard back yet, Also have found a couple other possibilities around. Hope to get tangled up with some wood and fiberglass in the near future and start going the right direction. Hoping for that Atlantic City date.

Defender 21
Congratulations to all the CLASS 7 Teams and to all the folks behind the scenes that make this exciting sport happen.
The Class 7 seems to be the new CLASS of the future. Hopefully the 2014 season will find it's way to South Florida so I can enter the competition with my Defender 21' Scout. I firmly believe the new 21' Scout would be fierce competitor and help promote the new upcoming Class 7. Good luck in the upcoming 2014 season !!! Anybody need a Defender 21 Scout for the 2014 season? LED lights, pop up cleats, 56 gal fuel tank with hoses & fuel fill installed. For more build info see OSO thread: "21' Scout, making a comeback !" on the "Chief" forum or call 305.910.1216 |

A big welcome to the newest CLASS 7 team:
725 Team Hauling Trash 21ft Hustler with a Mercury 200 Mike Merola, Beachwood, NJ Jeremy Bisson, Seaside Heights, NJ Looking forward to racing with you guys this season! |
Um, my boat is really rotten, and um its a lot of work. Making headway though. Its hard for me to beleive that this little velocity lived under the hands of Miklos and Decucious, they are not built all too robust originally. Hopefully my work is above par from factory. Gettin excited. 700

All right Mike !!!!!!! Welcome to the crazy house in class 7. What a fleet it is already.
|
Can't wait for Hopatcong!

Looking forward to having Peter and Scott out there. Let me know if you guys need help with anything.
