I love this class for a bunch of reasons.

1. These moderate power non merc motors are comparable to what a lot of the guys on here run, so developing packages in that price/horsepower range helps people out.

2. Holding every boat in the class to a spec motor makes every team dig deeper and look at things like aerodynamics and hydrodynamics instead of just adding HP to go faster. This is basically what came from F2 when we started seeing 38ft Vee hulls running 100mph with 525's.

3. From a spectator POV these boats seemed to be going faster than the big 48-50ft cats when they went by in key west. I know they weren't but its just that they're smaller and more aired out. To me it makes it more exciting.

First off congrats on the new boat

Honestly from a spectator standpoint I wish OPA and SBI would get together and and have class rules and names similar enough that boats could race either and names close enough that I don't have to refer to their rule books everytime I watch a race, in order to know what's what. (I know some already do)

I agree there's already thin enough fleets, if the higher powers in each of the sanctioning cared the slightest bit about the sport, they would put their differences aside and make it so the two were run in parallel with each other in terms of rules. Then they could have events held together which would equal more boats.

:eureka: Couldn't agree more!! I don't race in this class, but being in a spec class ourselves from the outside looking in, this sure seems like the best class to try that theory out on.. It is a fan favorite, teams seem to love it, and we have seen it's popularity grow tremendously in 1 short season, why not stick with what is already working?? Hopefully if you can keep the rules the same between the 2 orgs for this class we can see a higher boat count in SBI and OPA, maybe trickling down to some of the other classes??? Wait.... Did I just say something that made sense???

Oh and congrats on the new boat Ed and Shawn!!! She is a BAD M--FER!!! Can't wait to see you guys shakin things up in whatever class u decide to run!!:ernaehrung004:
