SAFETY INFORMATION
OPA will continue to step up our safety program this year to make sure that we have the safest racing events in the United States. Our Safety Director for OPA has asked that you check your Life Jackets (PFDs) for dates of last certification. If your certification date has expired, it is recommended that you have your PFD recertified. In regards to Physicals, you need to have a documentation stating that you are physically fit to race this year with OPA Racing. (Visit the OPA website for acceptable documentation http://www.oparacing.org/racer_resources.html). If any of the medical documentation expires during to the 2015 race season you will be required to submit new medical document in order to complete the 2015 race season. Medical documentation MUST be submitted each race season. OPA does NOT make copies of medical documentation to carry forward from the previous season. In regards to Swim and Dunker tests this year, OPA will be the only certification that we will accept for you to race with OPA. Our Safety Instructor for OPA will be available to do Swim Tests and Dunker Tests throughout the OPA racing season. If you come to race with OPA you must have the certification prior to racing any race. The OPA Safety Instructor will be at all the OPA races this season, you can check the Schedule of Events for dates and times for times at the pool for the Swin/Dunker testing. You must pay for the service (cash only) and you must hold onto your copy of Certification. OPA registrars will have a copy in their files, also along with the Safety Staff. Your certifications will be logged and recorded this year and there will be no exceptions. All Unrestrained & Restrained Competitors MUST complete an Annual Swim Test. Swim test certification is only good for the current race season and cannot not be carried over to the next race season, nor from a previous race season. In addition to the Swim Test, all Retrained Competitors MUST complete a “Self Extrication Course”.
