Mod vee vs class 5 differences?

Please help me understand the differences !

between a modified vee canopied single 30 foot boat and a class 5 open cockpit single 30 foot boat? Besides the obvious cockpit difference off course... why one would choose one over the other category?
i got zero answer on two fb group for that but i know here i will !
Thanks

Mod Vee is spec motor, weight and other things that you go as fast as you can go. Class 5 is speed limited to 75mph.

Class 5 is a lot more affordable. You can race an older hull, older power , older props, etc. As long as you can make it go 75 and handle well you have a competitive boat.
Mod V is spec engine...so its all up to bottom design, prop choice, etc to make a winning team. Latest and greatest stuff usually wins if the right people are running it. Its the whole reason bracket racing exists,
