Insurance
Hey guys,
Just bought my first Outerlimits. It's a 2003 37' Stiletto with 875 Sterlings. Called and got a quote for insurance for $2369 a year. Is this a good deal? Any comparsions would be appreciated. |

Re: Insurance
Sounds cheap to me whats the catch? Need more details.
|
Re: Insurance
That does sound low.
|
Re: Insurance
dirt cheap, i was looking at a 37 with a quote for stock power and it was over 4k. verify what you are getting. the deductible being high does not scare me, it is what they do not cover, meaning anything. hammer

Re: Insurance
Lets see some pics.:D:D It seems like a good deal.
|
Re: Insurance
That seems like a great deal. I'm almost 4 times that on my 42 GTX.

The quote is with State Farm, which I had my 35 Sonic with also. I have been with them forever and have everything with them including a large Umbrella policy. There isn't any layup and the value would replace it if something happened. I sent Pictures today so keep your fingers crossed for me.:D

Re: Insurance
I have everything with one company also. They carry my Scarab but the OL was just to much. My scarab with trip 800's is 1200 per year. If you can pull weight on the ins. company more power to you. Good luck. I think I pay enough for both of us!
|
Re: Insurance
I've never had a high powered OL but I have received what seemed like a low rate initially and then they have always come back with some BS reason why it can't be honoered.

Re: Insurance
Thanks. Looking forward to warm weather.

Re: Insurance

Re: Insurance
1998 37 Outerlimits with twin 950hp - 4500/yr. Just make sure that you don't have gaps between your boat policy and your umbrella.

Re: Insurance
I have a 37 with 600 with state farm 1,760.00 a year

Re: Insurance
Cool, Thanks. I am feeling better about my quote.

They must not know what an outerlimits is. I've had a fountain and pantera with state farm but when I said Cigarette, well lets say they are probably still laughing. Thats after having a house, condo, 3 vehicles and an umbrella policy with them at the time...oh yea and a 10+ year customer. |
Ok guys, when you are right, you are right. Just got the call from the Agent. He did everything he could. Three appeals later the verdict is no, can't cover it. So can you throw me some names for a good Insurance Company that will cover my new baby.
|
Try Elton Porter inn Houston. I think there is a link for them in the insurance section.
|
Your better off with a Markel or Ace policy because your getting a true marine policy.
|
Looks like Trevor Kurtz's boat . You did well . Thats a very well kept boat . I heard it does over 105 . Enjoy . I'll bet Trevor was paying way more than that to insure .:drink:
|
Thanks,
I will let you know what I end up with. Is there a certain person at Markel that I should ask for? |
Finally got everything settled and went with Bob Luellen at Worldwide Marine Underwriters. They gave the best deal. Thanks for all the help and all three guys I contacted where very helpful. Thanks to John York as he helped Bob with my account.

Any comparsions would be appreciated. one of my clients has a 2001 37' Outerlimits Stiletto insured for $225K and the premium is $2895.00/yr. Lay up for 6 months... not sure what you're insuring for but sounds good.... Check the fine print! Who is the carrier? Stacy Wake Zone Insurance Brokerage 480-357-9663 |
The new quote of $3788 a year for $300,000 is with Worldwide Marine. The other quote was with State Farm and they pulled a 180 and backed out. John and Bob at Worldwide were very helpful.
