Outerlimits Powerboats Cats Around Narragansett Bay
OUTERLIMITS POWERBOATS CATS AROUND NARRAGANSETT BAY
The Outerlimits Catamaran proves that not all cats are quiet and stealthy. This new 50’ Outerlimits Cat was last seen roaring across Narragansett Bay at 160 mph, right on the rev limiter, warming up the waters just as the winter chill set in. Mike Fiore was testing the Cat before putting it on the trailer for its paint job at The Art of Design in Elkhardt, Indiana. “The boat is awesome!” said Fiore, after running the cat for an afternoon, doing some initial testing with the Mercury Racing 1200’s and #6 drives. The engines, which run on racing fuel, purred like a wild cat and Fiore reported the handling of the boat was “perfect.” “These Mercury engines are ideal for this Cat,” says Fiore, “We’ve been looking forward to getting this boat on the water and we definitely showed what it can do—everything we expected from it—smooth handling, even acceleration and pure, manageable speed! Now we’ll work with some additional props and X-dimensions and we’ll really get it dialed-in.” he added. Though it is not quite boating weather where the cat is headed, after a long winter’s nap, it will be ready to hit the water next Spring with a new TAOD paint job, a new owner and a need to run those Mercury 1200’s. Who says cats can’t swim? |
Not trying to start anything. AGAIN, NOT TRYING TO START ANYTHING!!!!! :food-smiley-007:
What is the difference between this and Golddigger? Pyburn's boat had those engines in it and seemed to just have gremlin after gremlin. Were you able to iron out the wrinkles with his boat and each one will get better and better? Again, not trying to get anyhing started. I want to learn. I want to know. |
Hey Dirk your always trying to start something. This boat I'm pretty sure has #6's on it Mr. Pyburn's is a shaft drive with a rudder. I was told that was a big differnce in set-up of the boat. Good to see your still around hope we get some water for next year. All Fired Up is looking to eat a certain DCB up (not trying to start anything).:D

The boat looks awesome on and off the water and very comfortable. In my opinion one of the best looking cats out there.

I have been wondering what ever happened to the new MY WAY OL cat and if it was ever done and run. Was supposed to be super lite w/ turbines and was rumored to be running some big big #s.

Why is this always such a bad question. Nobody wants anything more than to see that awesome boat running like it should!! I asked a few months back and got my head handed to me for no reason...
Then why finish the interior, finish rigging it and then top it off with that $$ paint job if it wasnt proven yet.
I do hope it was made right for Bill, regardless of his financial situation, he shouldn't be supporting manufacturers R&D. Nobody is condemming OL. |
Miami boat show. Detriot auto makers do it all the time. What Outerlimits did was no differant than every car maker in the world does.
Cars are significantly less than whatever that boat cost!!:D
Plus most of the cars arent completed with drive train and everything!! |
Not even close. I've worked for Ford now going on 4 years & have been in styling studios where they are getting displays ready for the Detroit auto show & you would be surprised what is actually under the body & holding the seats & dash up in some of the concept cars. Also if you think there aren't cars that the factories have way over a million dollars invested that are not running your mistaken.
well said...
Thanks buddy have not heard from you in a while. Hey tell Mike I'm sorry I just could not step up to the plate on that v-bottom project he offered me. I have to get rid of some toys in the closet.
Yeah its been crazy here, Miami is coming quick. How's the GTX doing?
The GTX is f-ing awesome. I'm getting cat fever though. That's the other reason I backed away from the vee project. I'm putting some brake duct hoses on the deck naca's & would like to put some little round vents in the dash pionting at the driver. Can you guys help out with the little vents?
Yeah we can help you out with whatever you need.
Thanks I'll give the mothership a call. I hope your paying attention pantera that's called taken care of the customer right there.:cool-smiley-011:You guys rock!
Never stated that OL was anything less. Just wondering about a certain boat like everyone else.
Easy killer... |
That's not what your pivate message said.

Just curious, who is writing the checks for Ford's concept cars? Is it Ford or is it a customer? |
The customers!! Everytime someone buys a new car. BTW I know from the project Mike offered me he does workout a deal for someone willing to take a chance on a new prototype boat. OUTERLIMITS FOR LIFE!!!
If I had one I'd be proud of it also.
You are missing the point. The question was of the status of a previous cat thats all. An honest question about an unbelievable boat. No need to get in a pissing match about it. Have a nice weekend. |
Yeah I know that's normal for me. BTW I was never in a pissing match I was trying to help people who want to throw stones at what OL has done with GD in Miami. That this a standard operating procedure at all the auto shows for the car makers. I drove a test mule Ford GT & it looked nothing like the show car they had a the Detriot Auto show back in 02 BTW the show had to pushed everywhere it went.
I asked an honest and simple question. When I throw a stone you'll know it.
The issue was selling a boat that doesn't run - period! It is not an attack on all of OL operations. They build a fabulous boat, one of if not the best V hull out there. But why risk reputation and potential embarassment by doing what they did with GD? I don't see the benefit. Now you have unveiled an unreal boat, have issues and everyone is not suppose to ask where it is or how its running? Why even put yourself in this position? I didnt see this new cat finished, painted and on display for the world until it was properly tested and proven, which is how it should be done before accepting a customers $$. So I ask again, where is and how is GD running? |
I have seen both piston cats run and they seem to run pretty dang good from land.
Why don't you call Mike & ask him. I'm sure he & Mr. Pyburn would love to hear your input.:evilb:
Hey allfiredup.... I'm not so sure your auto business comparison is correct... Just for the record, Don't Customer's ultimately pay for all R&D in almost every business???? The Key word Here is "CUSTOMER'S"... In the automotive business that means hundreds of thousands or in some cases millions of them. As I sure your aware, the automakers have huge R&D Budgets and have teams of highly paid people working on new projects all the time. Not to mention there outside R&D activities, Motorsports, etc. Unless it's some back yard operation, Which I'm NOT suggesting Outerlimits is... No one individual pays for the R&D of any new production project. I have no doubt that Outerlimits has invested BIG $$$ in there Cat project and if anyone can make the best one in the world it will be OL. I bet the folks over at OL are too not pleased with your thread as it imply's that Pyburn is solely funding the Cat R&D project which I'm sure is not the case... That being said, Pantera has every right to ask a question which has not been addressed in this thread... Whats going on with Gold Digger???? :argue::waffen093::violent-smiley-021::angry-smiley-055:
Yeah I know I'm wrong. I was simply saying the R&D budgets all come from car sales. It's all into the price of the sticker price.
