6-Blade Merc/Herring Props

Anyone have any experience, when they first came out I was hearing stories of they man-handled the boats on the #6.

Had a set of 5-Blade Herrings on the old 42' and it screamed, more power and bow lift for big water running is always a plus, anyone have any input?

This is for big power and #6..no bravo input need apply.

We just bought a set of 5 blade Herrings, will let you know how they work on our 42 when we get it back together. Haven't heard much about the six blades on the 42, may try and call Fred at the fact.

There are two sets listed in the classified section.
Maybe that is where you saw them.

I have 40,s 5 blades listed if you know anyone who can use them.

I am curious how the 6 blades are also.

In Theory I believe the more blades the slower up top.

5-Blade, I have down to a science, it's the 6 I'm really curious about.

Well not a Science, but I'm happy to where I know where I should be heading for pitch etc.

I'm doing a new set of props and want to know if it's worth it to go for the extra blade.

Supposedly, same top, more acceleration.

Hopefully some good information will come out of this post as I am curious to know whether anyone has any experience with the 6 blades on a 42. Merc or Hering either way will be interesting. Ben what size props did you end up with.

went with the 18x34s, going to give them a shot at least, always be cut down....

I ran 18x33 and 17.5x34 w/ a pair of PSI blown 1250s on the last boat, it ran like it was on fire..

I think I may give Mike a call and see what he says, but when asked (this was a few years ago) he said the stern lift manhandled the boat, ie where I heard it, so we'll see.

The 5blades are excellent...

Now maybe a set of those new 1300 twin turbo mercs....heh

Lets see what other opinions come in.
