42, 44, 46 Length question

42 listed as 42' 5" Simple enough

44 listed as 44'4" Has a bustle over the drives, appears to fully cover a #6 drive which is about 4' long. Is the boats running surface ~40'?

46 listed as 45'6" Has a shorter bustle, is it close to the 42' bottom with the updated 5 step bottom?

Basically, what is each running surface length?

What about cabins on all 3, similar length and headroom on all 3. (seen 5' 10" listed for 42 and 46, 6' listed for 44 on fastboats add)

Thanks, DK

None of the boats have close to the same bottom. Nothing stretched or anything like that. The 46 hull length is 44 and change. Fred/animalhouse will give the specifics on the 44 since thats his baby. The 44 hull I believe is close to 43ft without the bustle.

Fred?
Just curious about length vs. speed since they keep getting longer yet faster with same power.

I've got a buddy with a 44SL with 700's running around 114 if that helps.

OL40SVX 01-11-2011 07:30 PM

A 42 with 700's runs right around 106-108. The 44 runs 112-114. The 41 ran 114. A 46 has never been built with twins. The triple 700 46 ran 120. The 43 with 700's runs 118. These are all stock numbers.

His boat would go faster out here in the salt............and it could be the driver!:D:D Jeff only has the rev limiter raised. Around 112 pure stock.

What's stock?

dkwestern 01-11-2011 08:41 PM

Whipples stage 1 isn't stock, adds 90 hp according to whipples website. I'm sure 114 on the 44 is with stage 1.

Thats why I said Jeff's 44 has the limiters raised....ie not stock. All the other numbers are bone stock 700 Mercury's.

Dan, I have a question for ya. Do the 37 and the 42 have the same size cabin, length and headroom? If so, how does the 41/44 compare? Just wondering.

No the 37 and 42 dont. The 42 is larger. The 41 cabin is a little wider and has slightly less headroom going forward, from like the head area, than the 42. The hight at the enterance is close. The 44 is like the 41 just on a larger scale and overall is slightly bigger than the 42. Its kind of hard to explain. Animalhouse may be able to explain it better.

animalhouse 01-13-2011 01:41 PM

The 42 has a large cabin with more headroom than the 41 & 44. The 41 & 44 have standup headroom at the head and galley area's, but are lower towards the front of the boat, however the lower profile cabins are still very usable. I am 6'0 and 250lbs and i sit on the lounges of each with out crouching and sleep comfortably in both v-births.
