I finally got to see some pics of the boat.Makes me ask this. Why do so many people buy million $ boat and sell them a year later?

Like Sutphen said because the customer can and we are building him a new boat. It will make a great boat for someone and runs really well with the 1350's.

we have had for outerlimits in the last 4 years a 37 39 42 and a 44 we cant get enough of them there great boats and all of the other owner are very nice as well we always look foward to see what comes our way just get more impressed every year

amazing boat.... the only issue I have is I can afford to put the gas in the boat.... boat there would be no money left for the pymt ..... I guess I could have one for 3 months...:lolhit: If you can
afford it.... I would get rid of them every year as well..... why not it's better to have then want!! LOL

Out of curiosity are you building another open bow boat for this customer. Seems like it will be tough to find another performance boater that wants an open bow on an SL52.

What kind of deals are being cut to these guys that buy a new OL every year and trade it back in??? I highly doubt anybody except OL and the owners will ever hear anything even remotely close to the real figures. I will guarantee it doesn't cost them half as much as what most people think. I know a guy that bought a new Cig every other year for like 20 years and when all the numbers were crunched it was only costing him like $30k a year or $60k every two years for a new boat every two years.

Certain years you would be correct.......but those times are long gone. If you bought a brand new 38 TG TS in 2001 it was 240K new w/500 efis. That same boat w/525's was 200K more 5 years later. So being the new boat cost 200K more, it artificially inflated the value of the used boat along the way. So guys could trade in/out/up and not spend 100K+ on every trade. However that "musical chairs version of boats" collapsed with the economy, used prices plummeted and new boats stayed the same so the gap is now huge with few people willing to leave 200k on the table after every new boat trade up.

BTW this was also the case in the late 80's with 911s/SL's.........buy one new in 86 and get almost what you paid for it in trade in 89 for a new one. Of course with cars once the body changed, the car dropped in value.......boats don't change that much 2001 TS TG and a 2014 are essentially the same boat with a slight dash redesign in 2005/06

This 52 OL/OB is a great looking machine but I think I would have preferred the diesel powerplants it was originally built with (for longevity, economy and it still did 90 mph+)

That is one awesome open bow! Where did the owner use it and why did he want an open bow?
