29OL SVL Race Boat
Any idea what the price is on the SVL race boat. Just curious....
Call eliminator I guess there building them now?
You cannot put a PRICE on a piece of art, that holds 3 consecutive world championships, has dominated in every race competition.
You can put a VALUE... but not a price... In general if someone has to ask, they are on a budget, and if they are on a budget, then this class of a boat and advanced technology is not for them. Sun print, went out and designed a new boat and could not come close to this OL... even with the officials slapping the team with parity over and over... The last time that the owners of the SunPrint was competitive was over 6 years ago, before Doc/ Brian showed up with the Fountain SVL. The boat, trailer, (without power) would cost in excessive of $300k to put together with no R & D and power. It clearly set the bar high.. and to high for Sunprint and the other new fountain in the field... This boat, the pair of fountains, and the new sunprint... made everyone that owned a phantom to be an obsolete boat anchor |
Wow. Maybe the guys just trying to get some ball park figures on a pleasure version.
Performance Boats at LOTO has an 29SV with 600SCI Mercs listed for $160K, not sure of that's what you are looking for.
Check it out. http://www.performanceboatcenter.com/ |
obviously this boat is one of a kind and with its pedigree hard to put a value on.....I am good friends with Doc and heck I don't know the price ...... I am sure if you call him and demonstrate a ernest interest he will be happy to share with you what he has in mind
mmmmmm
The asking price was publicly listed when it was FS last year, I'm not sure why it should be considered classified info now...
Awesome boat with great history, I hope someone picks it up and continues the domination with it. |
Ok...I have been kind of following SVL fora few years now because I like what I understand to be the concept behind it, so I guess you could call me a fan. Anyways I now find myself confused. I thought svl used hulls that fit back into production molds and sealed commercially avail power and drives. I thought that was to make it more even, affordable and eliminate major R&D, modifications etc. Somewhere I seem to have gotten my wires crossed with all this r&d talk...did the rules change or did I never understand them to begin with, somebody please educate me.
I don't think any SVL would fit back in the mold. They all have been massaged or in some cases flat out cut up. With like engines the r&d has always been in hull, drive and prop. I think that goes for all the spec classes.
has there only been one canopied 29 built?
So around $300k? I was just curious as I was looking at the cost of a new Phantom to compare the two. I'm not trying to start anything and can appreciate the success of the boat and team. I know what it takes as I raced F1, B, Super V and P3 in the past.

Worth noting more than what someone is willing to pay for it. |
And further more not accusing anyone but these boats are all far from out of the box. They blue print bottoms, no drive is exactly the same, props are all different and yes there are people out there running cheater motors in the class.
Not to mention the last fountain for this class was built in maybe 08 or 09? That's an old boat and old technology. Bottom lime fountain had their day and now it's over outerlimits is now lead v bottom builder.
I think the 29 will be a thing of the past in my opinion. They will be collectors items.

NO ONE in boat racing is doing it for the prize money, no matter what you buy or run, you will never break even. (I say this from observing, not being one of the actual runners)
It is about being best at what you do and saying I won! Money is just what it takes to get you to the best equipment, then it takes skill and knowledge to win! |

Does OL still have the capability to build 29's or is that strictly reserved for the seemingly incompetent Eliminator people?
I think I remeber reading if you wanted a carbon epoxy 29 it was built in Bristol, e glass and vinylester would be built at eliminator.
I hope I'm wrong Dan! Just an odd setup wth Eliminator. I wish nothing but the best for OL
Thats awesome! Will you guys be building that boat?

What is a ballpark figure to buy this boat?

Owner reduced the price of the 2012 we have listed down to $139,950. Only 25 hours on the 600SCi.
This is not a race boat, correct?
