37 - Staggered vs side by side
 

What is the main advantage in the staggered setup on the 37?

Ride, speed, both, etc?

How noticeable is the difference, if any?

Never been in a side by side 37, but as far as staggered setup is concerned. The boat is supposed to handle better and be faster. How much of a difference I am not sure of. I know the side by side setup gives you a little more room in the cockpit.

The boat should handle better in rough water with the stagger. The drives are closer together and also more in the center of the V so they stay in the water longer when hitting waves. The Center of gravity is also forward which better balances the boat and changes the angle of attack..

Side by side gives you more room in the engine compartment and also makes handleing around the docks easier. From what I was told by the OL at the NYC boat show it is a pretty big difference in speed for the 37.

I was admiring the Staggered at Shooters21 this past weekend on Friday. Does any one on here happen to own that boat. This was the first time I had seen it at LOTO. Running big power and 6's I think.

I Know A Guy On Longisland Converted From Side By Side Bravos To Staggered #6,s And Picked Up About 10 Mph.same Power.

I am starting to think this could be true. Has me thinking. I have the room as I was a triple engine boat. But I wouldnt change the drive spacing. Just pull one motor forward.

I'm guessing the surface drives made most of the difference in speed, not to say that staggered motors didn't help.
