Cracks around fairing
Hello guys,
I wondered if someone knows anything about mid 90's 28 panteras. Were they prone to having stress cracks around the fairing? (I assume a two piece system?) If so is this a problem? Just trying to learn about things to keep an eye out for. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom |
Re: Cracks around fairing
Is it your 28 that has the stress cracks? If so post so pics. jeff

Re: Cracks around fairing
Jeff-
Not my boat, but I am looking at it. I may post a pic if I can figure it out. |
Re: Cracks around fairing
tomcei, I have a 1999 28 Pantera that has a few stress cracks along the fairing, they are minor and only in the gell coat and have no structural effect on the boat at all. My 28 is also for sale if interested.

Re: Cracks around fairing
My '96 28 also has some cracking around the fairing. It had it when I bought it and has not gotten any worse. It looks to be a cosmetic issue only.

Re: Cracks around fairing
My new 2003 boat cracked the first year around the fairing. Cosmetic from what I could tell. Cattitude can tell you if it ever got worse.

Re: Cracks around fairing
Yup, 1994 28, starboard side. I'm surprised the '03 has it. Seems I read somewhere that it was taken care of in the '00's by making it a one piece or something.

Bruce All that said, I pounded my Daytona way hard at LOTO/ Grand and never an issue or crack, cosmetic or not. |
Re: Cracks around fairing
If you guys got a small minor cosmetic gelcoat crack on the Windshield area on any Pantera boat we will fix it here at the factory at no cost to the customer. We stand behind our product for the last 30 years 100 %. I do not care how old the boat is.
The boats we build are designed and built to go out and be run hard out in big water. Regards, JO |
Re: Cracks around fairing
I had the boat surveyed and it was determined to be cosmetic in nature. Not real attractive but not a real problem.
Joe, we spoke on the phone the other day and you told me the same.( cosmetic & you offered to fix it) I thank you for taking the time to talk to me. Thanks everybody. Tom |
Re: Cracks around fairing
This comment about glassing the windscreen to the deck led me to believe the crack was solved. :D
Hey Jimbo, The boat looks great!! The motors really turned out nice also.Since 1998 we began glassing the fiberglass windscreen to the deck. For all the new 2003 28 models we will be doing some new changes that will enhance comfort, appearance, and performance. Now go out and enjoy your boat this Summer. Regards, Jo And the thread it came from: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=29960 |
Re: Cracks around fairing
If a 2003 28' has a small gelcoat stess around a windshield it is rare and I am sure very small.Kenny go ahead and post a pic. here or send it to my factory email.I would like to see it. I beat the hell out of our boats in nasty water or out on the race coarse to make sure things like this do not happen.Back in the mid 90s there was a few that we tried a new bonding agent that did not work.

Re: Cracks around fairing
I have a 2002 with almost 300hrs and it does not have have the first Crack!( knock on wood) It has been in big water from NY to Key west and as most people know I am not shy with it. I read all the threads about taking a long time to build a Pantera (Much to long) but you can NOT knock the Quality. I just had my motor freshened at Innovation and I should be good for several more years. If anyone has questions drop me an email. Glenn aka Dangerkitty

It is a wild hairdo GW is sporting. No cracks in the skull either as far as I can tell. :)
