28 with twin SBC speeds?

How fast will a 28 run with twin 350 - 400 hp small blocks? OR twin 6.2 320 hp motors?

Hey Guys,

My 28 had twin smallblocks w/alpha ss drives and I have to tell you I liked it. My biggest problem was trying to find the right props. As for speed I'll guess 64-65 @ approx. 4800 . I feel comfortable that 70 with the right prop combination was attainable. The one thing i liked the most was how well it handled and behaved with twin smallblocks. Here are some pics from days gone by.

Thanks Angel, I have the itch for a 28 single real bad but they are soooooooo hard to find in my price range so I might go for a twin. It looks like the small blocks are not too hard to work on. What did you think about engine access? Thanks, Chris

Ironman,
Engine access with twin small blocks is very good. I could change all my plugs with no problem. Now if I were in the market for a 28 again I'd definetly try and go with a single. I had never owned twins before I bought my 28' and I'll tell you it was great BUT it was literally like owning 2 boats as far as maintaining it goes. Every time I changed the plugs or the oil or anything else.. the cost and TIME was always twice the amount.
To me the perfect set up would be a single 28' with a mild naturally aspirated 540.
