24 in the Boat Trader

FYI...Not associated with-but there is a 24 in the Boat Trader.
It might be a good deal for someone....in fact if I had the liquid cash, I'd probably look into it further for myself.

That Pantera gave me and my family the most care free and enjoyable boating for 7 years, my son grew up with it. Pics are from the south shore of lake Michigan at our former home town of Ogden Dunes

So whats the scoop bearpaw...
Its been on the market too long if its in good shape.
Something up w/ the owner/broker?

bearpaw 01-26-2006 07:39 PM

Re: 24 in the Boat Trader

I don't know the owner or broker.
Usually a case of moving up to something bigger (thats what happend to me), untill you realize how great of a boat it really was. Dosn't cost any money.

I sold it to my neighbor, who sold it to someone in Fl

I personally like the TRS but what would it be worth with a new bravo drive and transom on it?

Back in the mid to late eightys. If you are up on the history B-87 was the number of DAMM MANTA . The Pantera was used to get points when the Manta was down. :evilb:

Re: 24 in the Boat Trader

Bearpaw-
Funny you say that about the B-87 number. I was thinking about "Damn Manta" and wondered if it was a weird similarity that the Manta was from Indiana too.

Re: 24 in the Boat Trader

Anyone find this boat yet?

beck427 07-09-2008 04:28 PM

I know I am bringing back an old post but I purchased this boat..... I am trying to get some info on the engine work that was done to it.... the guy I bought it from said that it had upgraded heads but had no idea what said 370hp... I'm wondering if it is a 454 370 with the forged bottom end????

bearpaw 07-09-2008 06:58 PM

Its only a stock 330hp 454 with EMI exhast with a MecII trans

Can I ask the sale price..............please

beck427 07-09-2008 08:25 PM

Yeah when I took it for a test run found out the merctrans was full of water..... it is getting sent out to be rebuilt this week if the marina ever pulls the engine. It needs work here and there but looks ok overall..... I got it for 5k with the quickload trailer.

georges 07-09-2008 08:58 PM

$5K.........holly sh**............... I looked at it a few months back when he was asking $10K for it!
Ju gatta deal mon!

beck427 07-09-2008 09:18 PM

yeah so far I am happy with it...... just need to get the trans done so I can take it out.

IRONMAN 07-10-2008 08:13 AM

for all the money saved on the boat you could install a 600 ITS sportmaster in that baby:ernaehrung004:

bearpaw 07-10-2008 09:20 AM

That trans was new when I sold it with the gimble and drive gone over must of ran it hard. The trans should be cheep to fix. nice buy and get some real trim tab for that thing. Does it still have the red carpet below. Make sure that the cooling hose from the trans is not blocked should dump into starboard exhaust if that boat was in a winter freeze it could have popped some thing inside the trans to get water in there.

beck427 07-10-2008 10:06 AM

yeah the bellow came off and I believe it went in through the rear seal. I installed a transom drain for the trans cooling so I can monitor it.
I just talked to the marina and they said it'll be needing a new ujoint and yoke.... I'm out of town and can't take a look at it. I believe that yoke and u joint is like 600 bucks if you can find it. I did not feel much play in the drive but I did not see it off yet. how do you confirm that they are shot??
I am looking at extending the tabs but did not know if I can just bolt on some alum or stainless with the same rams.... anyone have thoughts on this???

beck427 07-10-2008 10:22 AM

red carpet is below....... should I be taking it out lol

24 pantera

Did you get the Pantera tranny fixed? I looked at this boat awhile back. Cool boat! Let me know if you want to let it go. I'll bite!

beck427 10-01-2008 11:45 AM

yeah I got the new trans installed, serviced the outdrive and that new u joint. Boat runs great. Only thing that could use some work is the rear bench seat upholstery and some nice tabs. Right now I am happy with the boat, if you want make me an offer.
here's a pic from a trip to beer can island in tampa bay
