Re: Cheap! Reliable! p-5 race boat?

looks more like an 84 not a 94. Ide check with OPA first. The rules may have changed, but I dont think twin motors are allowed in P-5. I dont see why an exception couldnt be made because its a 24.

I would rather see you find a 24 with a single IO. blow a powerhead and the boat aint so cheap anymore. There are a few out there in that price range.

Not in to terrible shape. I think twin-outboards are allowed though.

Re: Cheap! Reliable! p-5 race boat?

Not sure if reliable would be the correct adjective for older 2.5's. I would also rather sit down in something with that little free-board for racing.
Im sure the price is negotiable so it could be worth a shot though....if the price was right. Pantera did make good rough water boats, for its size.

I thought OPA was speed bracketed? Is there a restriction on number of motors also?

No twins in P-5... IO or OB

I know twin OBs on a 27 Excalibur, were not allowed last year. By the looks of the instument panel, I'de still say 1984. also the serial numbers looks like an 84. if its an 84, i think they are asking too much.

P4 all the way. You'll running against P4 "Specialized Racing", a 30 Superboat w/ a pair 2.4L egg beaters. That would make a good race.

Those are 2.5's. He has the 2.4 covers on it because they are to close together fot the new style covers.

P-5: max avg lap speed is 65 mph. top speeds are not measured. however that may change this year. SBI may go back to using GPS units and OPA may be using GPS tracking.

this is not yet confirmed, but if it remained as per last year's rules, your lap speed cannot exceed 64.9. on any given lap, not overall average.

Hey Bob,

This would be a much better boat for you.

For similar money it is in MUCH MUCH MUCH better condition.

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=123244

It is running right in the speed range you want,

The OMC motors are much less expensive to replace then the Mercs should you need to. and this one is running great!

It can run in Production class and the SOB class that is growing in Jersey this season.

I'd deliver for the cost of Fuel only.

I just listed it today.

And it is being offered by a known and reputable OSO member. (Chesire cat smile inserted here)

(sale contingent on my replacement boat purchase going through)

Thanks
Evan

You can have my Banana for a similiar price as the Pantera and race her in P-5 or SOB.

Pantera and SB have a 7' beam. Banana is 8' wide. All of them great boats, just pick your flavor...

http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listi...toPrice=&cint=

Selling her with a single Mercury, not the V8 Johnson.

One I have seen this boat, it is 1994, two why would you think that this boat is a or could be a P5 boat, just because it is a 24 ft boat doesnt put it in P5. This boat is faster than a P4 boat, you need a lot baalls to race it at its potential to try to keep up with the bigger boats.
