imco extreme sc
Do any Pantera owners have any experence with this drive.
I'm thinking of picking up a low hour unit (1.5 gear). As I understand it they are pretty tuff stuff. Comments please. You can give it to me straight  |
Re: imco extreme sc

Just trying to plan ahead. I did a search on them and found some unhappy customers  |
Re: imco extreme sc
Tom the XR is one tough cookie, trust me on that one, I have put 20 hours of serious pounding with my motor and it is still in tact.

ALBERT Tom the XR is one tough cookie, trust me on that one, I have put 20 hours of serious pounding with my motor and it is still in tact I currently have the xz and I don't want to trash it if I get more power next year. I found an imco extreme sc with 20 hrs on it. The upper and lower unit together for $5600.00 I thought it was a good deal and figured I could up grade and keep my xz for a spare. I'm just not sure if I should do it or not. If I put that money toward more power then I'm closer to trashing my xz. What's a junky to do  :D BTW, I saw some rather neg.info on how the imco held up(somewhat over rated) ????? |
Re: imco extreme sc
If I ever bought an Imco, it wouldn't be because of the glowing reports they got from their customers. That said- some people can break anything.
I've had two Imco lower housings with no issues. Don't sell your XZ short, it's a good drive and Mike who used to be at Dollar had told me some actually thought they were living better on the factory race boats- the helical gears are weaker on paper but they are pumping the fluid somewhat and maybe that helps. I pull the top cap every 20 ours and inspect when I change the drive oil |
