I am looking for a new rub rail on my 24 I would like to use stainless with a low profile and wanted to ask if anyone has some ideas what to use and where to get it.

May not be as low profile as you are looking for but check out the ones used on the new Fountains. It is made by Taco.

Thanks do you think that the White is the way to go or the black vinyl with the stainless trim? I will get some picks together.

Thanks Todd

IMO, go with a white rub rail & stainless insert.

Thanks Todd

In your case, I'd go with the white. Better match for you. My 24 is black w/white deck...prefered black on mine.

It is a 1980 and it is my first boat. I started to restore it about two years ago. I posted some picks in paint and fiberglass when it was getting painted with a question and started a small war.

Todd, your story is just like mine. Mine is an 80' also. When I bought it it was in pretty rough shape, but things are coming around now. The previous owner "rigged" everything including duct tape to keep the water from coming in the starboard exhaust pipe! All it needed was a new o-ring seal.

Good luck with your project!

I've found that it's all guess work in some form or another. Study the others, learn why, and then do it your way. I think it looks awsome

tg,
I saw your post on cleat placement, and realizing yousr is the same year as mine, I did a quick search.
Your boat looks great, glad you're getting back on the project.
Mine is moving along slowly, but it'll be ready when it's ready.
Did you finish the rub-rail yet??

tggrounds 06-18-2008 08:30 PM

My rub rail 98% done I have about 7 hours on the boat Manley test runs and still have a lot of lose ends.

I know what you mean.
I have several portions of the project 95-98% done, but they aren't "done".
Can I ask you...
What did you do to extend the dash panel for the throttles??
I'm installing the same package of throttle/shifter, and it's a 1/4" longer than the spot on the dash.
Your's looks good - what did you have to do??
Looks like you built it out with a pad.
