Blue 36 gets paint

Just noticed the blue 36 for sale in the classifieds got a paint job. Looks much better now. Amazing what a little color will do.

Re: Blue 36 gets paint

I was hoping that was vinyl..............I hate the scallop/spear/flame look. I don't like a majority of OL's because they got stuck in that design look for 2-3 years. Hopefully with TAOD painting their new boats (OL) they will look more appealing.

I liked the Pantera in solid blue. Is the price still in the 150's or now more due to custom paint?

I think it looked better before  Looks like a cheap atempt to move the boat.

Re: Blue 36 gets paint

I looked at the boat before with just the blue gel. I'm going to try and get up there today or tomorrow and see it in person. If it is just paint on the blue gel it might look odd. If they painted the entire boat I know it will look better.

Like picking a radio station- you'll never make everyone happy. Personally, I like them and think it made a huge difference. I could be wrong, but i think the new scheme will appeal to a lot more people (potential buyers) than the somewhat classic but boring (opinion) blue gel.

I'm pretty sure the add said it was clearcoated which appeared in the pics to give the blue more lustre.

I agree, youll never make everyone happy. I think that it looks great compared to before

When it was all blue I loved it. Actually my favorite Pantera to date, and although the new scheme looks good I think the all blue was much better looking. I would love to own it either way, one kick ass boat.

Went by and took a quick look at it. The entire boat has been painted. The blue gelcoat before had somewhat of a dull finish. Looks great.

I also agree you cannot make everyone happy. But, IMO that boat looked WAAAAAY better all blue. I love the "classic" look and the new paint looks like a total afterthought.

This boat has been for sale for a year now. It has the right power, nice interior and is new. Why hasn't it been sold?
150K was the listed price at one time, is/was this out of line?
Over 4,000 people looked at this boat on OSO alone!

i saw this boat at the factory and it was perfect in every way. i think the dark color is what scares people.

Ugh. Much better before. Instead of being somewhat unique, it now looks like a zillion other boats out there. :stupid:

The only person that really needs to like it is the person who buys it.

Re: Blue 36 gets paint

It is a real nice boat, and I have considered buying it several times over but that boat isnt perfect in every way. The Gelcoat work on that boat is downright atrocious for a custom boat. I imagine that they had the boat painted and put the graphics on there just to hide the workmanship. I would still purchase this boat and the gel was the ONLY setback to this boat. All other workmanship was above the standard and the lines and look of the boat really turned me on. The performance #'s are also great

speed buff 08-08-2006 08:26 PM

Re: Blue 36 gets paint

i have seen plenty high dollar performance boats with dark color paint jobs or gelcoats that show many more imperfections compared to the lighter colored gelcoats.with the custom paint on it now and its asking price there is not a better priced quality boat out there with that look and performance. i wish i could afford it  .

I agree that there isnt a better looking boat and it has great performance numbers. But.. although the blue gel color didnt help with hiding the imperfections, you could have seen these waves and print thru and all the other problems on this boat thru any color.

I still might buy the damned thing. What is Eddie asking for the boat now ??

Re: Blue 36 gets paint

Just talked with Eddie at Hideaway. The boat was completely sanded down and painted and then the graphics were added. He says its as smooth as a baby's butt now and looks great

$174,000 will buy it

What he said. You made a point of saying you were ordering a 28' on the Sonny thread.while we were all arguing about Pantara and how long them it took to build a boat. That was somewhere around April. Where do you stand now ?? I hope all is well and a new 28 is being built for you as we speak.

I seem to remember that as well. What did you end up ordering?

My question is then, if you're going to sand it down and paint it why not go to white since the blue seems to be hard to sell. I also think by adding the graphics you further limit the market as you now need someone that wants that paint design.

Maybe they should have offered "graphics" of your choice if you buy it for $174K. I think it looked better blue but I am not a buyer right now so what I thinks doesn't matter :evilb:

If Kenny decideds to sell my old boat you'd do well to buy it.

The graphics might not be what you like but before I bash it and say it is cheap I would go check the boat out and the quality of the work. I have seen the boat and the quality of the paintwork itself is fine.

The first time I saw the boat the blue gel had somewhat of a dull finish. It now at least has a shine since it is all paint. When someone buys it they can easily add or remove what they want.

To each his own. I liked the all blue look, but I also like this one also. Hideaway did what they thought was needed to sell the boat. Only time will tell

The quality isn't the issue it's how it looks. And I agree it looks like a afterthought cover up. If they are going to go through that much trouble to paint the whole boat they should have done something that "flowed" much better. Just my opinion but I'm not in the market. :D

If gel work was bad, they should have fixed it and left it straight BLUE. Paint job does look cheesy.
