Can`t wait to see the Gen 3` on there. Tomas you will see a big gain in power.

Test mounted a piston to check the clearance of the rod bearings and now I have to get new bearings... Only ~.002 clearance and am looking for ~.003. Got the last set from a engine builder and will mount the pistons tomorrow. Finally...

Wanted!!!
Does anyone have a 8mm pulley for a 8-71 blower laying around?!
Looking for 50, 51 or 52 tooth pulleys. |

Like one of these! :p |
Tomas you want to be at around 2.5 to 2.8 clearance all the way around. 2 is a bit tight unless you run real thin oil which is not good for a blower motor.

The Pantera should be repaired and ready to mount the fueltank and floor this weekend. :D |
Hey Tomas,
Do you join us later today helping splash some boats? Bring some beers....HA HA HA HA |

Looking for 50, 51 or 52 tooth pulleys. If yes I might know a few...but they are accustomed to Top Fuel. Glad to see your Project. |

The pistons are now mounted with about .003 bearing rod clearance.
Changed the oil in the blower and found that the sight glass needs to be replaced since it cracked in the threads when I started to put it back. Better now then when running! Talked to the glass guy today and the Pantera will be ready tomorrow, also the fuel tank brackets will be welded to place tomorrow. We will put in the tank and hopefully get the floor there during the weekend. Will also have to test mount the new oil pan on an empty block in the boat to see if we got enough clearance to the notch. Keep your fingers crossed! |

Ok had to ask as I haven´t been around any smaller pumps than you mount on a TopFueler personally. Tomas, yes they are in Finland, the nearest ones are right in Åbo, maybe all depends on storage... Also If you need I have at disposal some Motori-Moderni class 1 engines.... Or Keith Eickert Class1 Lightnings, one totally unused for example. I try to check them sizes but this weekend is booked as I must help a guy with a slight engine problem in his Ninja. |

Sounds great Mikey! Please get back to me with the sizes!
What do you want for the KE Lightnings? I need two myself... and you need one... or , actually I´m quite protective of them staying here because of their heritage ;-) I´ll get in contact with you this week..have to do a rebuild on few engines before midsummer too. Seems there´s a lot of work around powerboats over here... You don´t need any Motori Modernis, there´s a LOT of them :-) |
Any news Mikey?
The heads are now assembled and the KE oil pan is test mounted in the Pantera. It cleared the notch :evilb: so no need to adjust the pan. Got the Pantera back a few days ago and went to take a look yesterday - looks really god. This better hold together! Both stringers are strenghtened together with the V between the stringers. From the engine room bulkhead to 1-2 ft from the bulkhead in front of the cockpit. The fuel tank brackets (welded on the fuel tank) are rewelded. Although we noticed that the weld on the front bracket is about the come loose as well, so it went back to the welder. :( It will be finished tomorrow! We will put in the tank and the floor during this weekend. I will post some pics of the progress later... |

The testmount of the oil pan. About 1/2" clearance when the cast pan bolt plate is removed. About 1/4" for the moment. The block is a bit tilted to the starboard on the pics.
Sorry, but the bilge still needs a bit of cleaning before putting the engine back in... |
3 Attachment(s)
The heads with the new valve job, new Manley valves and Isky 8205Plus springs. All that's left is to mount the Jesels.
|

The pistons are cleaned and mounted with new Total seal TNT gapless rings. Got the main and conrod bearing clearances to .003".
Got the new cam (from RMBuilder) in and checked the ICL to make sure everything was correct - and so it was. |

And now to the repaired stringer and bottom! :evilb:
The white stuff you can see through the glass is a special filler that are commonly used in "performance" sail boats    that will hopefully keep this together. Looks completely awesome!!! Will put in the fuel tank and floor today! :evilb: |
nice work!!!
|
Spent 19 hours with the boat yesterday and still didn't get the floor in. :( But the fuel tank will definately stay in it's place from now on - no way it's gonna move! :evilb: Will post some pics later on.
Back to work! |
Finally got it done yesterday! :evilb: It took 35 hours to get it done... But at least it probably won't break again! And it weighs the same or perhaps even less than before.
A BIG thanks to the Zanders at Yacht Service in Åkersberga for the bottom repairs and letting us use your facilities! |
Congrats Tomas! :evilb: I am looking forward to go boating with you this summer! Are you going to run the Cape North race? Tobbe and I will be in sthlm 7-8July with the Cigarette. :drink:

Regarding the Cape it depends on wether they will allow a real boat to participate in the Stockholm PR or not. Either way we will go boating during that weekend!!! :evilb: Bring some seamen shots! :drink: |

Will bring the whole Aalands-ferry with me!
I spoke with Johnny about the Stockholm PR, and the whole thing sounded a little bit wierd, to say at least. Oh no, seaman-shot, do you remember what happened with Mange last time we shared a bottle of that? :drink: :evilb: Ha ha ha! http://www.helawine.dk/Produkter/Lowres/11302.jpg |
Tomas I see that you have flat top pistons on your motor, I dont know the CC on your heads or your head gasket thickness. I hope you have a knock meter in your boat to let you know of any detination. I have a dish piston on my blower motor with a .76 thick Cometic gasket and the piston sit 20 in the hole, that gives me plenty of room for boost on pump gas.
|
I saw something in the Uncensored section about some Swedes drinking Seamen Shots! :drink:
Sorry... I act like a child! |

Measured the cc on the heads and ended up at close to 120cc, the pistons are .025 below deck, pistons are dished 3cc and .051 (they might be .053) thick gaskets. That should get me pretty much 8.3... Where did you get that .076 cometic gasket?! They should put me at just below 8 in static comp. Just got a dual EGT-gauge from Mange, we will mount the senders right at the beginning of the SS tails (right after the elbows). |

I got the gasket custom made from Cometic for $200.00 the set. |

What kind of boost will this combo endure with reliability with 91octane? |

Got the fuel tank in place.
Press fitted the same foam in front and back of the tank - and of course on the sides between the tank and stringers. This will never move! :evilb: |

Bolted the tank to the engine bulk head and the one in front of the cockpit with M10 screws and really big washers.
Also put a sheet of foam on top of the tank to stabilize the floor a bit. |
