At what price.... opinions?

Hey guys, most of you know I listed my stars and stripes 2003 28 sport in Sept.

I realize we are just beginning serious shopping season so I should not look to hard at "activity" since Sept. I also realize it's somewhat of a buyers market and that while the Pantera market is somewhat limited, other decent boats are around, some with very motivated sellers.

I'm trying to gage what it'll take to move my boat by august, sooner is good. I'm mooching indoor storage from a friend, the boat show's awesome, run's strong/reliable. delivery is negotiable, a 20 hr roadtrip is part of life for our race team.

Aside from the "I'll give you $5k" attempted humor, what's a good sweet spot to move it in our market? I know some board members only buy boats from people willing to take a serious beating- I'm not that guy. But it's a great boat and I'd like to find it a good home at a fair price. Feel free to post (helpful) comments here or PM me if you prefer.... Thanks:drink:

Well since you asked for "opinions" I think 55-65k would move it. Its not just boats that are not selling these days. Good luck:cool:

I believe that like cars, boats depreciate the most within the first few years.
My guess is that your boat is worth 50 to 60% of what a new one would cost.
In 2002 I paid $23,000 for my 1997 24' Super. She was $42,000 new from the factory in 97.
So what would your boat cost new? 120-140K.
She should move at 70K without question...

Stormrider 04-12-2007 11:18 AM

would you consider selling w/o power?

Cattitude 04-12-2007 11:35 AM

what are new similar boats these days, 140-150K?

Storm, yes I would, could yank the power/bobtail, get a fresh Dyno sheet, bill of health and turn it to cash, I've got some locals lusting for the engine if it came to that I also have the stock XR lower if someone preferred that to the std length Imco housing and could put it on a custom triple axle black steel trailer if someone preferred that to the AL trailer. I think I've got the flexible seller part nailed down:)

Its very nice, and my favorite flag paint jobs! sorry other patriots out there. ;)

It should sell for low 70s... not asking 70.
Does it have the drop floors?...ahh just noticed it does.
What kind of offers have you had, if any?
tough market out there...

Ernie was close, lusted for the other one more, rest have been tire kickers, one guy offered 50 in a PM:rolleyes:

I figure figure every "on the fence would be boater" who does nothing cause of gas concerns is replace by some one thinking 28-32 that elects to go big single for the same gas concerns. There are few comparable boats when it comes to big worthy singles:)

Stormrider 04-12-2007 12:30 PM

i cant believe your boat is 4yrs old... i vividly remember VB having it built.
Damn, i feel like i've been on here too long.

jayhawk261 04-12-2007 01:44 PM

I maybe a little selfish, but I hope you don't sell it! I won't be in my 24 Super forever, and yours would be a perfect move up! Is that selfish? Sorry!:D

I'm not the one to give values as I've been in the sport only a short while. It is a fantastic looking boat, and pretty rare for these parts. I think if you take it out on the holiday weekends and such around Grand or LOTO, you could generate some good interest. Oh, and I know you'll be wanting to run the Elimintaor, so I can drive and advertise the Pantera for ya!

Funny I drew it with MS Paint on a picture of Glens boat and thats what the painter put in the boat.

just put" or best offer" next to your price . if you lower the price whoever call's you up is going to want hagle you down from any price you put on it .
boating season is here real soon so you should get some call's .
good luck " nice boat by the way " :)

Boat looks great Kenny... My thoughts are for you to stay in the Pantera Family and keep it and put the Cat up for sale... It was a hard decision between your boat and the one that I purchased - Just wanted to wish you luck with selling your Pantera - It will make some body one heck of a boat...

Just tweaked the price and ran an ad in boat trader, it'll sell soon, activity is up:)

I appreciate your candid comments, I love that 36, would shop that but I think the Daytona will keep me smiling for a few more years, running low 90's now and mid 90's is there to be had:)

wrasse 05-02-2007 11:17 AM

Looks like a great boat. Does it have captains choice exhaust?

I'll see if I can budge some more.

Has Drew marine shotguns, at idle it deflects it down through openings in the ex tube near the tip, more flow and the spring loaded flap opens, has a very sweet sound:)

Cattitude 06-01-2007 12:53 PM

Motivation is increasing:D

The funny thing is my wife prefers to sell the Daytona and keep the Pantera- I'm often away racing (Rockcrawling is my other vice) and she's very confident running the Pantera 20 miles up the lake to hang out with friends, but with the Daytona, twins/docking/faster cruise she's not as comfortable and only hits the lake by hitching a ride when I'm gone.

So, I don't want to own two boats forever, and I want to sell the Pantera before she leans on me too hard (I promised to fix the Sticky shifter in the Daytona this weekend so I can start teaching her more about the twins etc.)

This boat can be bought for less than the 70k suggested in this thread- how much? Serious buyers bring your offers, the boat will not disappoint.:drink:

That is a great deal Ken. It was a real head turner here in Miami before it headed up North. It drew a crowd at every stop while out testing it.

HEY TEX!!! come on!!!!!!!!!!

TexomaPowerboater 06-01-2007 03:36 PM

Sure is beautiful. Maybe in another year I could buy her.:(

TravisB 06-01-2007 10:57 PM

This is an awesome boat...I have riden in her many times. Very smooth and has the most recognizable sound on the lake. For the price it is a steal. On second thought someone should buy it without power....I have a nice home for the 540 in my daytona! :evilb:
