Connecticut Fun runs

Hey Guys:

We are expecting to have a lot of fun on the Sound this summer. If all goes well, I'm going to try and get out next weekend. We'll be posting here for each weekend.

Expecting day runs to Mattatuck, Thimbles, Port Jeff, Sand hole, crab shell, and more. Like to do a Block Island weekend and Claudios as well. Always up for suggestions.

Of course, there's always blasing around West Haven break waters. Do we all just like to burn fuel and piss the sailors off :D

Stay tuned.

Ron

I'll play around with you guys this summer. Boat comes back from Lake George by Memorial Day.

Thanks for the call last night Ron.
I definitely want to hook up with you fellows this summer!

You may want to add the CT River to your list. The river is great for early or late season runs. You stay a lot warmer protected from wind on the LI Sound. I'd be happy to play tour guide...:drink:

OL40SVX 05-02-2007 12:27 PM

I'm in for anything. The Cig should be ready to go in a week and a half or so!! Thank god the good weather is starting to come!!

Full Throttle 525 05-02-2007 01:07 PM

Sounds great guys.

Pat I'd like to get in on the CT River run. Now that I have a real truck and B-Stubb fixed the trailer, I'm ready to rock and roll.

Looking forward to having fun Dan. I'm going to try and get a few 38 TG's from Milford to join in as well.

Looks like we'll have Jromy, Morgan, T-mone, Indy, Trevor and whoever wants to join in.

talon25 05-02-2007 06:15 PM

Ron , let's do the first run on the sound Sat May 12 as long as weather looks good .

302Sport 05-02-2007 06:36 PM

How about the Pavilion in Old Lyme???????

Yep, Dave with the blue one and Screw It from the board. I'll get some of the Saybrook rack guys to come with us as well.

JROMY 05-02-2007 10:17 PM

Ron, did you really have to post this in the Pantera section? I had been doing really well at not reading any horror stories and keeping my inner thoughts to myself...:evilb: I guess I can't blame you though, since you are the Northeastern sales rep! :p :D :evilb: .....
Anyway, can't wait to get out on the water with everyone :drink: . Looks like I'll be picking up the boat Mother's Day weekend - might be back to run on Sunday. 302Sport - how is the Pavilion? Is there dock space for multiple boats? Speaking of that, I was told there was a place on Long Island with lots of docks, bands, etc. somewhere near Manhassat Bay that we could run to and is a great time. Anybody know anything about it?

Indy 05-03-2007 06:18 AM

Looking forward to another year on this great body of water. I have some updating to do on the PowerPlay and probably won't be out until Labor Day.

Does anybody know what took the place of CoCo's in Huntington Harbor? Is it still a restautrant/club with a dock??

Indy 05-03-2007 06:24 AM

Ok guys, let's post here for CT runs, it'll probably get more visibility in the general area...

The Pavilion is lots of fun.
No docks; you leave your boat on a hook and get a ride on the water taxi or swim.

Last I knew, CoCo's was out of business. Stormrider mentioned La Mottas and Louie's over on Long Island. Sounds like they could definately be worth the run!

Coco's re-opened this winter as a very high-end, difficult to get reservations steak house. I am not positive on the dock situation, but it's certainly not the fun place it used to be.

Hey Guys:

I've followed Indy's lead and started here:

I didn't want Jromy to get to far ahead of himself.

Sonic30ss 05-03-2007 10:27 AM

I should be wet by the 12th....Block, Claudios,Pavilion,The CT river with a stop at Harbor Park. It's all good... I would not mind trying some other places on the Island or South of the river, it seems I'm always turning left at the mouth.
This sunshine has got me itching to run :D

Indy 05-03-2007 12:00 PM

Hey Sonic,
Are you still keeping your boat at Midway?
The Blue Oar is a great destination for visitors to the River...:drink:

ChristianGott 05-04-2007 10:07 PM

you guys want to rattle a cage or two.?
..go up the branford river to the restaurant (calypso?) at branford landing..or sam's at the brewer yard....the river's a 15 minute put-put ride and the harbor's nicely sheltered...the aqua in clinton could also harbor a mid-sound lunch crew..long docks and gas...better yet, pack a lunch and raft up in the thimbles...it'ld cause a stir and there's tons of room...only 40 min from the ct river.
just my .02..

Full Throttle 525 05-05-2007 06:43 AM

Hey Christian:

How's it going? Last year I tried to go to the restaurant at the end of Branford harbor(maybe that was at Brewer's) and they told me that the owner doesn't like boats like mine and to turn around and politely leave.

Anyway, we were going to to some day trips to the Thimbles. Check this forum and also the one under Poker runs and Boating events for our weekend events. Like to get together with you this summer.

Ron

ChristianGott 05-06-2007 12:52 PM

I just don't ask...there are signs that say "no restaurant tie up" sometimes...i've never been questioned, but my story is i'm looking at boats for sale....there's always a couple...it's all about the business...:D

How have you been? New owners, nice place.
They won't turn away business.:D

Danger:

That's great news. Nice place to hang when you run out of beer at the Thimbles:D ...not that I drink and drive!!

Pat McPherson 05-14-2007 12:07 PM

Hey Ron,
Below is a message I just received from the owner of, "The Mad River", a 29' Fountain.

Ahoy Mateys –

Every year the conquered subjects of Block Island rise up against our rule and need to be suppressed. Last years plunder, although severe, seems to have faded from their memories and we must return. The seeds of uprising have been reported at Yellow Kittens as well as The National. Our spies tell us that many of the locals, having nursed last year’s wounds are re-arming for another fight. So fight we will! I also have good intelligence that local law enforcement is looking for revenge…I say Ha!

The mission is scheduled for August 19 and 20 (Sunday and Monday) and we need good strong ships and brave crew to add to the assault. Capt. Schreoder and Captain Boland, do you accept this challenge? First Mate Nelson, are you ready for a battle? Join Captain Haughton, Captain McPherson, Captain Kolmer and a few other brave crews in this most dangerous and important endeavor.

Captain Haughton

WildThing 05-22-2007 08:25 AM

Hey Ron, haven't talked to you in a few months.
It sounds like you have been having fun!

The run sounds like a great time too....have fun!
