a little hop up for my 28
Well, Iv'e been diggin in my shop and workin on the boat the last couple of months. Last year in September some of you may remember my trip to Fla when I heard the horable noise in the engine. Well it turned out that it was only a broken rocker stud. The exhaust #3 or #5 I can't quite remember now. Anyway, apparently it makes a serious bunch of noice when this happens. I could have sworn it was a rod or the like. Thankfully she didn't come apart on me which was nice.
I decided to rebuild and add some pwr. I had the heads CNC ported along with the intake. I put on T&D shaft rockers. I'm going with a little bigger cam and it's a solid. I'm also changing the crank from 4.25 to a 4.5 stroke. Adding a tad of compression and putting a pan on that should help with pwr as well. This combo should have 582 cubes :D with the slight bore and new stroke. The engine should be on the dyno tues. I'm hoping for close to 700hp. I hope we can get there. I stripped the bilge(totally) this time and painted it with Imron. This turned out much better than the gel coat I did last yr(what a joke). I replumbed the fuel line from the tank to a -8 steel braded line( got rid of the 90*). I'm most likely doing away with the electric pump set up an going mechanical. I'll throw up some pics after dinner tonight. I'm going to try to video the dyno for a few pulls if possible. Tom |
More horses under the hatch are always good:D

this is the only thing that was wrong with my mtr. Very hard to believe that the exhaust not flowing can sound that horrible.
pics of head work, sorry this pic sucks. |

my sleeping beauty 1st pic:evilb:
2nd pic- here we go again:eek: she shines good now. I powder coated the stringer and mtr mounts white and assembled with new hardware. I'm tring to white out everything so the mtr takes the spot light |

What are you trying to do put mine to shame??
That looks like it is from the factory!! GREAT job! |
Nice job Tom!!! Looks Great!!!!
Let us know how the Dyno runs went. I see you went for the Solid cam , so tell, how big did you go? |
Tomcei that thing looks incredible. I too am dying to to here those dyno results. I know in cars and such that you have to adjust the vavles often with a solid cam. How often are you going to have to do it in a boat motor? Good luck with it looks awesome...

Hopfully I wont have to do too many adjustments. Not a big deal anyway. I use to have a solid in a street rod and could knock it out in 30-40 min.
Morgan, I'll get the cam card and share the info soon. I believe the lift was right at .700 |
Tomcei,
Engineroom looks very nice. Mange |
