What do you guys think of engine packages ? With 2 steps the boat will be fast enough for me with a pair of Merc 700's but does anyone think I should consider other combinations ? I like the 750 Cobra and I've seen a nice Sterling 750 too.
Thanks for all the help |
A guy that I boat with has a twin step Gun with 1100 Pfaffs and Sixes. He loves it and says the boat is very user friendly and reliable. I can tell you based on first hand observation that I've never seen him have any trouble around the docks or doing "social boating". And I've never seen him have any mechanical issues. The boat is a pusycat.

Go with the Merc HP600Sci or HP700Sci's reliable and warrantied.
or Some Ilmor's would be nice also.. |
Very Nice Joe,
Look forward to watching the progress. Jon |
Down in southern FL, CHIEF!

Personally, I'd go with reliable Merc's...twin 700's would be nice.

Agree with Stormrider - Spoke with Chief Engines at the Miami Boat Show - Really nice stuff...

Damn that is a sweet ride. I love the old school style that all Panteras have. Is the white boat with the six pack a 36? That is the ultimate dream. What engines/drive combo does that one have?

What about Keith Eickert Engines - I run one in my 28 Pantera and so far so good...

I think i remember it asking in the mid-upper 100s? As far as power, Merc is a great product. But if i were in southeastern Florida(MIAMUH), and was even considering non-merc... it'd be Chief or MESA. Being on LI, NY... i'd go merc, or Zul/JC. There is just something about having your builder nearby. |
