Racing a Pantera with twin outboards..??..??..

Is there any class in any organization that allows such a setup? (24 or 28)

Thanks..

in OPA if its a 24 P6 or P5, if a 28 P5 or P4. Tough to compensate for wave span on the smaller boats even if it can do the speed. You'd be safe in P5 with either. What part of the country are you in?

Georgia

The closest "big" water is Destin, Panama City, and Savannah.....

I thought that twins were not allowed in P5 or P6.

Thay are not in SBI, thats why my response was P-4 in a 28, but I dont know OPA rules, may be allowed in 5, since they have 6. If twins were allowed in SBI in P-5, you bet your azz there would be a second motor hangin off the back of my boat.

"I thought that twins were not allowed in P5 or P6."

"They are not in SBI, thats why my response was P-4 in a 28"

So......can I assume a single outboard IS allowed in P-5? Sorry for all the questions, but I've downloaded the general and technical rules from SuperBoat's website and outboards are only mentioned in the Superboat Stock class.

And since I'm asking questions; would a 28-foot Pantera with a 300hp outboard even be competitive?

Single outboard would be allowed, the rule states single engine 30 feet or less.

I dont believe a 28 with a single 300 would be competitive, you got some big engine sigle I/O's in that class. now a 300 on a 24 would be competitive, maybe we should mount your 300 on my 24 and go racing:D
