I guess that will mean that we would need to convert it back to tripples......now tripple 200 or 300x is the question ?????? I forgot I need to get ahold of the boat first......

JO - PANTERABOATS 03-04-2008 07:27 AM

If you are serious, I think that I can locate Black Sunday 4u.

Here is a picture of Black Sunday from the Pantera shop wall. AWESOME !!!

Dude! Sweet! 03-10-2008 02:27 PM

Out of curiousity... why's everyone always looking for Black Sunday? Seems like there were at least 4 or 5 tripple motor race boats and I've seen at least 3 different paint schemes that were black boats.

Stormrider 03-10-2008 02:32 PM

yea, but wasn't there a movie named after this boat? ;)

HA! You really got to the point of my question Rob! :D

I personally really dig the looks of this boat. Seems like Pepe told me this one was dead, but my memory is horrible, so who knows!

JO - PANTERABOATS 03-10-2008 04:11 PM

Yes, it died!

Dude! Sweet! 03-10-2008 04:34 PM

Hey Pepe, how's it feel to be the leader of a cult? :D

JO - PANTERABOATS 03-10-2008 04:44 PM

It feels absolutely marvelous!

By the way, I have all the original tooling for these boats,
inc/ the old school outboard well, and the race dash.
seriously anybody wanting a retro look 28', I can build it.
We can even use old school mat and rowing, that stuff does not break!

That boat sure has some dark history... But if it is in good shape and the motors are ok - why not.

I was just in Freeport Bahamas last week and we rented some scooters to see the island ourselves and while I was riding down the road (with a Kalik beverage in hand :)) I looked to the left and saw a triple outboard Pantera 28. I actually saw it so brief that I had to turn around and go check it out. It had a sort of black and white checkered theme going on. No motors but you could tell it was rigged for triples. It was a race lay-up with just the three bolsters. Any info on this boat? It appeared to be sitting there for awhile!

Pepe hasn't hooked you up with the location yet?

Do you have anyone chasing down the boat that FormulaMike saw in the Bahamas?

JO - PANTERABOATS 04-08-2008 12:03 PM

I checked on google earth, no luck.
I will probably call the Pentagon and try to pull strings there

Why not just build a duplicate?

That'd be like owning a factory 5 shelby cobra... nothing like the real thing.

Dude! Sweet! 04-09-2008 10:41 AM

Hey hey hey... KittyCat John has two FFRs and they're nice cars!

Not exactly the same (since it's still a real Pantera) but you're onto something though... It's like a clone of a real trans-am car vs. the real trans-am car. They're both '68 Camaros with all the stuff, but one lacks provenance... (As the fancy-ass vintage racing MF's like to say!)

Besides, the difference is Black Sunday would probably still be somewhat cheaper to restore than you'd pay for a brand new one... (MAYBE! :D )

man it kills me, I can bet that this boat is sitting in some back yard rotting away, when It can be getting ready to do the Bimini run with 3x300 x's on the back and non stopping calling to Pantera to ask if were going to be ready and if Pepe and Joe want to do the run with me.......

dfealy 05-18-2008 04:21 PM

Pepe, Didn't you tell me at your shop that you were meeting with the friend or a relative of who has the boat down in PR? Is there any progress on locating it yet? Let us know so we can discuss the rebuild. I am sure like Andy said, this thing must be rotting in a back yard.

JO - PANTERABOATS 05-19-2008 07:40 AM

Last I heard it is rotting behind a house!
I heard that it had been butchered up into a twin engine boat etc.
The guy never got back to me.
