Trimming your drive on a 28
 

WOT how far should I be trimming my drive??

Differant X's & Differant props per boat are going to require differant trim angles. However not to over simplify the issue but when looking for top speed in good water ( if thats what you are asking ? ) I always just free the boat up good & then watch the GPS & then make minumal changes untill the best speed is reached... ( be sure to give the gps a few seconds to adjust ) Then after that you can either make a mark on your indicator or make a mental picture of it & it will be a good starting point for the future...

you have indicators ?
if not use the rpm and speedometer. trim as much as you need to achieve best speed/rpm ratio.
use trim buttons not drive button or else it will make a nasty sound.....

Now what about "driving my trim" on a 28? :D

Rick, i remember jo saying to watch the spray from your drive, and it should be getting to about the top of your transom.

And DS, i think it has some thing to do about ramming the trim... or do they call it the trim ram?

Somewhere between 6 and 7 on the indicator most likely. Like was said, keep trimming up until you stop gaining speed.

Just buy one of these from your friendly Pantera/Livorsi dealer and you'll know!!

unless your mech indicators are dead nuts on, a glance over the shoulder works well. I've found my best results with about a 2' tail for speed.

Watch that you don't lose your sunglasses though! :D

Install a water pressure gage, and trim til ya lose pressure, then back down a tad..........Oh wait, thats for outboards.:D

Its a slip indicator, not just a GPS Speedo. Tells you your actual slip while you are running.

Seriously, I trim my boat by feel and speed. The only time I ever use my drive indicator is when I am testing props to see the difference in needed trim between props. I do glance at my tab indicators though to make sure I am in the "safe" zone.
