I'm now part of the Pantera family!!!

Picked her up yesterday in Coloma, Michigan. :D
Did the sea trial on Paw Paw lake, after determining that being on Lake Michigan in 49 degree weather, 40 MPH winds, and 5-6ft seas wouldn't be conducive to anything but a bad time. :angry-smiley-038: She's going to get a hull cleaning and waxing this thursday, along with a full interior detail. Should be at East Chicago Marina sunday for some fun and then the in and out service. Hot boat was right when they wrote "this boat has to be driven, not just pointed. After awhile, however, it becomes as comfortable as a favorite pair of shoes, responding predictably and smoothly to driver commands." I got behind the wheel for fifteen minutes or so, and in those conditions, piloted her with a large dose of respect. :boat: |
Congrats dude. I've been out in the Pacific in some big bumps and I'll say this, that boat has more in it than I do. She won't let you down! :D
|
Congrats to a Sweet 28 Pantera!!!
That's a really cool paint scheme. Is that a raised engine hatch I see there? We need more pics inside out! And yes, the 28 Pantera eats BIG water! Good luck with your new best friend!! Mange |
Nice rig....what does it have under the hood?
|
Thanks fellas!
She's got 2x EFI 502 mercs with Imco steering, stainless marine headers, and brodix heads... Supposedly less than 5 hours on complete rebuilds. |
Congrats!
You got a great boat! |
Congrats,
Nice Ride. |
Good looking boat! Congrats!
|

|

Congrats, I liked that boat.
|
Thanks for the kind words guys! Can't wait to get some hours on this thing. :D
|
Welcome! Great looking pantera. You are in for some great times!

:cool-smiley-027:Sweet. I just bought a 24, but wanted a 28. Let me know how she rolls!
|
Congrats! I am another new 28 owner ..... we lost one from Michigan but it looks like it went to a good home! :D
Let us know how she runs! Lake Michigan??? |
I have seen that Pantera on a few occassions around the South Haven area over the years. It has been there since about 1997 or so....very nice boat.
|
Thanks for the words of congrats guys... Yeah, this thing will be used on the big lake, should think it will handle the rough seas well.
Congrats on your Panteras too, Mike and Love Machine. :) |
Cool! I was just looking at that boat the other day in the classifieds, looked like it just needed a good hull cleaning and would be good to go. What did it run out at top speed?
|
We didn't run it flat out since it was so damn cold and it was a smaller lake, but seemingly overpropped with a 26p it was running middle 60's...
I bought the boat with 24p's, hoping to get some more R's out of the motor top end. |
Nice boat Baddogz, Welcome and good luck with the new ride.
|
Why was the hull dirty? Was it sitting in the water?
|
Not to my knowledge, it has been in climate-controlled storage for the last couple years. It's actually pretty clean, just a little yellow but not too bad.
|
Congrats! I took a ride in that boat a couple years ago. Sweet ride and classic lines. That hull will never go out of style.
And the raised hatch gives it a totaly different look over the other 28's. Good luck and enjoy, with hope we'll get some long awaited warm weather this weekend. |
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Thanks guys.
Dropped her in East Chicago marina sunday with my buddy's 40 formula, took a good cruise to Chicago and rafted off for a while... The boat ran great all day long. On the way back, saw 68 on GPS into a stiff wind and against the seas. Hopefully, I'll pick up some mph with the wind and current at my back next time. :D |
sounds wicked man!
