My Hull
Have several very interested parties, but cutting the hole for the transom asesembly is holding them back.
Do you think I should have a transom assembly installed? I was leaving to the buyer then they could set their own X Dimension. What do you guys think? Should I just set it up including mounts for an engine and sell it simply less power & drive? |
I like the fresh start approach, but it may be something that "freaks" people out.
It may open the door for too many posibilities and questions rather than bolting up your pwr and going. Get the potenial buyer started in the right direction. my .02 |

There is only one place that might have done this better...
It is perfect! |
repower the boat w/hp500. Then it is turn key.... I always liked twin small blocks in the 28'
|
Kirk I think the diehards will appreciate the fresh transom. However I think the "average" buyer would want something a little less intimidating. IMO putting a transom assy in would attract more buyers.
|
Probably will do it if it doens move within the month.
Price increase will be reflected...this was a Fall special!! |
Kirk,
"Years" ago I was a tire-kicker on your 24. When I called it didn't have power. I'm trying to remember if you added power before you sold it.? Seems like you did. Anyway, when I finally get a boat (years away at this point - got a toddler instead) I want it to be "turn-key". I don't have the time for any projects. On the other hand many, many posters here seem to be gear-heads. So they may WANT a project. I wish I knew where they find the time. That's worth what it cost you. Nothing! (Maybe I'll be ready when you sell your next one..LOL!) |
My $.02. Buying a boat just without power is a simple job for many people. Drop the motor in and bolt up a drive. Can be done in a few hours and not intimidating.
Now, measuring and cutting the hole for the transom assy and exhaust will be intimidating for a lot of people. I think you will have more prospective buyers if the transom assy is there. |
Exhaust holes are still there. Cutting the transom for a standard Merc transom assembly is extremely simple if you have the Merc jig. I will offer the hole cut at whatever X the customer wants. Then if they want to provide a Imco transom assembly of something special they get it installed - FREE!!!
Towhead - you are right I installed an engine and the guy who bought it pulled it out!! He is Onesickpantera!!! Hope all is well Scott. ! |
might be just a sign of the times and the economy...if the price is right, there will be a buyer with or without a tansom assembly......with these kinds of boats, it seems to me that most buyers will tinker with it at some level.....if they are willing to buy a boat than needs a motor and a drive, I don't think that mounting a transom assembly is going to be a deal breaker.....just my .02
