1st time out and had it up in the high 70s on GPS with more mph left to go.Motors were brand new so I did not want to run it to aggressive 1st time out.Mercury recommends engines to be broken in at 4000 - 5400 RPM ( 3/4 throttle ) for the 1st hour with 1 W.O.T. pass for no longer than 10 seconds after 1 hour of break in. I only trimmed it out 3 points and speeds were still climbing quickly at 78.3 MPH before I had a no wake zone to slow down to. Engines can also be mounted a bit higher on the bracket plus labbed props can be tested for even more performance. Great acceleration in the mid range !

With the new twin step bottom on the 28 SR powered by twin 300 XS and atleast another 11-12% more speed are there for sure.

Merry Christmas to all.

JO

I agree with the "old school" solid hull color.
Very sharp looking package!

Thanks Guys. Mercury 300 XS were mounted on a Stainless Marine aluminum bracket with folding ladder. We also went with a complete Zieger full hydraulic race steering system with polished race tie bar and race tabs with indicators.

great job guys love the look.....btw at those speeds someones has to built a step bottom 28 and call it the sleeper......great speeds on a true rough water boat (no steps no pads just a good ol boat and alot of heart).

Thanks on the compliments.

Jupiter Sunsation : Twin Mercury 300 XS are quite a bit more $$$ than twin 6.2 MPI Mercruiser - Bravo 1 package's. Plus you have the cost of the Stainless Marine bracket with folding ladder and Zieger full hydraulic race steering for the outboards which is more expensive than for a twin Bravo 1 set up.

Regards,

JO

Thanks Jo, I don't know anything about performance outboards. Thought they were used to save weight and money but not in this case. In a 28 I figured twin small blocks would be the biggest twin install you could do.
