A lot of 28s for sale!?
Duunoit's, B-Stubb, Velocity Rick, Cherry Bomb, the twin 454 boat in Florida (that Stormrider saw), whatever boat Dr. Dan is buying, Mine... any others?
|
We all must be asking too much...
No, that can't be it since we are all over the place in price (prices seem to be commensurate with the boat) I tell you what, Sean. Lets get rid of this "glut" of Panteras on the market. I'll trade you both of mine for yours and we'll each keep the motors in our 28's :D |
dont forget the 3x OB in Freeport NY.
And FT525s. That white/blue one in MD w/ 454s... haven't seen it in a while thou. Oh yea... and the new TS in PA. |
I knew I was forgetting some!
Chris, you're going to get me in trouble... :D Do you deliver? ha ha ha. |

Seems like 1 out of ten people I know here in Detroit are out of work right now ..... 3 of my four dirt bike riding buddies!
Really stange to see unemployment and layoff's seem normal ..... this has a big effect on big toys around here ... and probably the nation. |
Mike, the funny thing is at least 3 of the boats that are for sale are for sale becuase we want to move up to something bigger or faster (or both!) :D
I agree though, the economy is such a mess that everyone seems to be trying to cash out of all their toys. Of course once the package is fully stimulated by the gubbermint, everyone who used to have a large savings will wish they had hard assets instead... Printing 3 - 5 trillion dollars is going to make the dollar look like the old peso. We'll be paying $100 for a cheeseburger and $350k for a 10 year old boat! At least that's what I'm telling my wife! :D |
All true but what is missing IMO is the regular middle class guy ready to step up to an offshore boat from the bowrider or classic Donzi model ........ I thnk it's a regular guy that buys a used 28 Pantera , or someone that has diversified interests and not interested in sinking all they got into a boat, that's sitting out of the market right now.
For example I would be sitting on the fence instead with what has changed in the past year and industry uncertainty. I love my boat and intend to keep it for a few more years but would not have bought due to future employment concerns if the decision were this month vs October 2007. You can see automakers trying to address the uncertainty issue with the job loss guarantees. Let's hope it spins around quick!!! :ernaehrung004: |
Amen brother!
|
some boats are overpriced. they are only worth what someone will pay. and i guess right now you cant even give them away.
|
Within the next 2 months, the whole market is going to be saturated with boats. Prices will keep going down and If your hurting for money and need to sell, start runnin the bath water.

The flip side is something is also only worth what someone will sell it for. Distressed sale discounts may provide a lucky buyer with a purchase price below market, but that doesn't mean that the distressed sale price IS market value.
There's plenty of us who can afford to keep our boats if we don't get the price we want. And that means that stuff isn't only worth what people will pay for it, it means it's worth the product of what people will pay for it and what people will sell it for... Willing seller, willing buyer = fair market value. |
Everything ALWAYS has two values. What it is worth to you and what it is worth to someone else. It's when those two meet is when you have a transaction.
I'm trying to rember the quote from econ class. It will come to me in a minute. |
Supply and demand or what the market will bear?
|
:drink:Market price is the price it sells at!

All these Pantera for sale, and I dont see any classifieds listed for them...
I am about a year out from when I wanted to make a purchase, and its killing me. Jo even has contacted me with some used options. I might just have to bite the bullet and do something this year... |

There have been a few pre-owned 28's sold in the last 60 days.
JO |
I get the feeling that there are going to be alot of poeple saying "I shoulda"... this summer.
|
No joke! Its not like waiting for the right Camary... I've heard production numbers only in the hundreds, which generally means the right boat doesn't come along twice... I hardly know what to do with myself now that I'm not (seriously) boat shopping anymore! :D
|
All i can say is i'm glad the 28s i'd consider aren't for sale now.
|
Dude you have 2 now right? How are they running?
Storm, I'm with you, Glad to have what I have and the two temptations in new owners hands. |

Storm, I'm with you, Glad to have what I have and the two temptations in new owners hands. I'm doing some little stuff to the 24 and when I'm done with that, I'll jump on the 28. I'd like to get it together in time for the Bay Fair POPRA race in San Diego this year, but we'll see. |
