maybe making her a sit down...what do ya think?

was just going threw old threds last nite..and found the one with the badddddd sit down int. now we who have our boats know they r great but we stand a bit tall in the helm....and helll I am only 5'7''....so thinking a bad azz sit down poker run int would be nice. By now you may relize that this is Rocky and my boat is not going anyware...P.S just put offshore threw hull water pick-ups and sea strainers on her.

Uhhh, HELL YAH! :D I really like the sitdown boats. Wallin (or was it Mange) did an awesome sitdown boat. B-stubb's boat looks like a good seating position and the Martian and Carribian OB boats all came out really nice too. My knees are hammered so sit down is pretty appealing to me.

panrock 04-16-2009 10:06 AM

I figure ,no one is buying boats right now so I still can enjoy mine now that it is all better..and make her real perrrrty...till I can buy me one of them there new 30' skaters wit 300xs off the back.

Think Helledin will give us a discount if we buy two of them? :D

I'll call you soon Rock. It's been too long! You going down to LBGP this weekend?

All good here. I hope all is well with you too!

panrock 04-16-2009 10:36 AM

I realy cant go down. Mom just passed away, so I need to get some stuff in order befor I go bavk to work...going to take a week off and go to Havasu and just float...real fast. I have decided that an update on my boat will be a good project for me to keep me sane for a while. I have a lot of ideas that are'nt too costly to make mine supper bad..Take care Sean, give me a call when u are free from the tax time..

jeff1000man 04-16-2009 10:38 AM

The opnly issue with the sit down is to make sure you put in PLENTY of padding.

Your back will thank you later.

But yes. Sit downs are awesome.

panrock 04-16-2009 10:38 AM

P.S. Pete is great but...discount...I'm thinking....NOT...maybe used.

TexomaPowerboater 04-16-2009 10:53 AM

I think its a great idea. Not enough freeboard in these 28's, might as well embrace it.

panrock 04-16-2009 11:14 AM

The only other thought is to do the drop down floor like on the new 28s , I have the abillity to that ,but there are some very bad azz sit down seats to be had, I was on ppi's web site last nite, cool stuff. plus I am redoing the helm and pasenger dash, the whole cokpit will have upulstry including the helm.I also have some sheets of silver carbonfiber that I am useing on the dash. There is a place here in SO CAl that stocks every type of ruber flooring out ther, I got me a 10'x8' of silver dimond plate rubber flooring ...free ....well it was a gift from the film industry ...my job.I hope to start my face lift soon and I will post pics.

Sit down rocks, especially in a 24!!!

Stormrider 04-16-2009 01:50 PM

Yes, the padding is KEY.
Use the mitigator material by PPI.
Someone in the GD forum gave this material RAVE reviews.

panrock 04-16-2009 02:20 PM

:drink:thanks for the tip, I was reading up on the material last night, very cool stuff, plus I do most of my boating in lake havasu...not quite as rough as the boat could take so I realy dont have too many worries about geting beat up....but I still wll go the extra for the god padding. It will help when I decide to take it out in big blue....I just love fresh water...dont like salt....too anal

After going both ways I prefer straight, no realy sit down is the king . Ride in them back to back no comparison plus I will out run you in big water cause me and my pasengers are comfotable. Plus they will be cheering go faster the last time we tryed yhat in a old school back seat 2 people were in the emergency room .. nuff said

panrock 04-16-2009 04:37 PM

:ernaehrung004:Hey B , who did your interior? hate to ask but....what did it cost?

Out There 04-16-2009 07:54 PM

Love the sit downs in my 24. No problems with my back and it's in the air much more than a 28. At 6'4" it does avoid the "Herman Munster" look as well!

BY U BOY 04-16-2009 09:37 PM

I love my sit down, not as tired when I get home and it saves my jacked up knee from hurting more.

I have come to the conclusion that my next boat will be a 28 Pantera and I would like it to be a sit down. The questions I have sine they were not originally a sit down..

Is it hard to see the gauges? Is it uncomfortable with the throttle in a stand up position and how hard would it be to relocate the throttle?

In my scarab everything is in the perfect spot and I feel a lot safer in it.I'm only 5'6" on a good day.

talon25 04-16-2009 10:16 PM

Tmone has a 24 sit down and he had PPI put the MITIGATOR pad in the two front seat, made a big difference, worth the extra $$$$.

Dude! Sweet! 04-17-2009 12:00 AM

Hey Rocky, sorry to hear about your mom. That was a tough deal. Take care and enjoy life a bit bud!

B-Stubb 04-17-2009 05:36 PM

Its cheeper to buy mine tryed and proven plus mine has a good bottom and runs 90+ on a bad day.
