Chris, sounds like we're on the same page! That would be sort of my fantasy. We'll see where it goes. That LSX package seems like it has a ton of potential.

Chris (I), sorry I was posting while in a meeting earlier today...

I've been bouncing around the idea of converting my new 28 to staggered small blocks. I'd have to take out the rear seats and put new tanks in it. It would be a lot of work, but I'm guessing a fair amount of reward considering the rarety and opportunity to stick another prop in the water.

I really like the new small bock packages that are around and I think there's a lot of peotential to make good power with some significant weight savings (like the boat Pat Weismann is running).

I'm not 100% sure that doing this with my current 28 makes a ton of sense, based on some numers I've heard in the past from the factory about cost to build a race layup, no cabin, no liner boat (consider the price tag on the center console). Also considering the potential weight of my '86. We'll see... :D

I need to send you that other end cap and the old tie bar (you'll have to shorten it) and you'll be that much closer...

Dude! Sweet! 05-27-2009 07:41 PM

Chris, hand onto it. I'll just pick it up from you when I buy your other transom assembly! :D

It actually looks better than the one that is on there (as far as I remember). There is a circle on the inner transom plate that slides over the collar(?, back side of gimbal bearing) on the transom assembly. That collar was BROKE off. I'm guessing that when the transom was moving on the Profile because it was soaking wet it flexed enough to break it. Actually, I'm guessing it happened before I bought the boat because I never saw the broken piece in the bilge when I derigged it.

Oh, I also meant to say if you think it can be repaired you can have it and the trim pump that goes with it.

Sweet! Worth a shot! :)
