How much hp can a Pantera 28 handle before it runs out of hull, so to speak? I kick around eventually cranking more power out of my 454 Mags in my Checkmate and I dig following the Pantera 28's due to their offshore racing heritage and build quality. Just absorbing knowledge and enjoying the show. :drink:

The 28 is a BIG boat for a 28'. I think they could handle some big power and speeds.

I heard my boat ran 97mph with the old 900hp blower motor according to the previous owner. Single Engine F1 light layup 2 man bolster boat. imco extreme sc drive.

Best I have seen is 81.6mph at 5500rpm with a non labbed 26p bravo 4 blade with 2 guys and a close to full tank of fuel. 710hp on 89 octane. HP is according to builder but I cannot verify the horsepower until I do a complete rebuild and dyno test and at that point we will hopefully be running more hp.

There have been 28's that run over 100mph and also a 24 that ran 103 if memory serves me right.

Whoever ran that 24 to that speed had some nuts, mine is a handful at 60, although I have seen scotty drive his quite a bit faster.

Remember, the speed is only part of the equation. Trim angles and boat attitude are just as(or more) important IMO.

Squeezing that last few mph by hanging the boat out makes a night and day difference.
