Twins on a 24x7 hull?
 

I read allot of posts that say that the 24x7 hulls and twin outboards do not go together well. Is there any reason behind this?
Me, I like the fact I have 2 motors and to be honest I think it looks silly with one little motor sitting behind the boat..... not proportional to me I guess.
Besides aesthetics are there any real advantages/disadvantages???? Is weight the main concern?

I think it's more on how the weight is displaced rather than the total weight...a pair of 2.5/200 Mercury's only weigh about 850-900 lbs which is comparable to a big block/bravo combo. I think it's not as desirable becuase that 900 lbs is hanging off the transom, set up higher, and spread apart which leads to more side to side action because of the limited 7' beam. Having all that same weight down at the water level centered in the hull would probably tend to offset the side to side in a 7' hull.

Looks cool to me and the redundancy is nice when your in the ocean and an engine failure could mean an unexpected trip to Hawaii!

How's the boat running ? Did change the props ? Man i REGRET selling it......do me a favor if you can send me pics of it in the water if you have any as i lost my camara chip, or any pics of it....thanks

somehow I figured this was going to happen.

Pepe seemed to like them, see the miami to NY run thread. I prefer a high revving single stuck out there. talked to a few that had smaller twin v-6 outboards(150 merc), and they were running much slower than my single 225. If you could swing 2 300 mercs back there, you would be doing great, remamber, a 300 merc weighs the same as a 225!!

I am still offshore so I haven't had a chance to try the boat out. I am going to turn the motors out first to see if that does it, if not cleavers or a 4 blade. I am concerned the 4 blades may be too much. As it is now with the 23 mir plus's with 5 people on the boat it can barely get on plane, motors get stuck at 2k and won't cavitate. sometimes it helps to put in neutral and rev the crap out of them, maybe it cleans them out?? I'm going to try new plugs as well (I'm new to outboards).

what do you think a 24 would run with 2 300's on the back??
pair of 2.5 280's may be the way to go...

twin 300's would be in the low to mid80's.....my boat ran best with the choppers but it would take a while to get on plain

I have a friend that has twins on his Superboat and it runs perfect.
