Propping the 24'

Who likes what props and why?

I have had good luck with the Bravo1 26" and Hydromotive 3 blades24" in the past. I think that a Hydromotive 4 blade may be best but have not tried one yet. Thanks, The Ironman.

I know that Hydromotive Q4's create a lot of stearn lift. I talked to Jo last week and he said they had tried them on my 28 and it was too much stearn lift and the boat didn't like it. I think the Bravo 1 will probably be your best bet.

I am picking up my new 550 hp motor Sat for my 24. I have no clue what prop to try. Any suggestions? Needless to say I have 2 23 bravos for sale. One has been labbed(bought new already labbed and blueprinted from Merc). Both useless now

Hey Scott,

You will need a 28 Bravo 1 to get stared.I would get a standard finish to try before you spend the extra $$ cash on labbing.I feel you might turn a 30 Pitch labbed if the motor has a real 550 HP and good torque. If you spin the 28 at 5350 you will be running 82-83 MPH.With a 500 HP Merc. Carburated we spin a 28 not labbed and run 83 on a gps.If you turn a 30 at 5350 you should be running around 90-92 MPH.It will depend what RPM you want to spin the motor and conditions. You will definetely get a kick in the ass compared to your 7.4 Merc 310 HP.Regards, JO:D

Thanks Jo, I have to get down there to visit soon. As soon as my wife has the baby I can travel more than 15 minutes away. I can't wait to see your new project. Thanks for the info I will call you with all my test results. Say Hi to your Dad, Mom and Barbara for me.

hanna, Can you give us some engine specs for the 550? is it a 502 or bigger? Don't be too suprised when the boat feels really light due to more power I went from a 454 to a 510" and what a kick as jo said:D Good luck Chris.
