Von Bongo,
Maybe while your boat is still under construction, you can have a dipstick made for the fuel tank for accurate readings. |

VB, I too saw your boat. We may launch on the same day. If we do, let's take some break in pictures. Your fuel consumption problems may be alleviated by installing a fuel flow rate guage. I heard that these guages help to find the perfect trim and RPM for cruising. It was good to see my boat behind yours in the picture. I too am getting anxious to be on the sea. Maybe we'll see you in Miami. GaryM

Hey Gary I saw your boat in the background too but I didn't say anything, I wanted it to be a surprise!
Turtle, it's getting a Myco steel trailer in white, red and blue! I don't think I will have any trouble with the fuel, the beak boat used to run out at 1/4 tank so I keep em pretty full. I do not know if I will be able to get to Miami to test or not, I may just have to have Jo and Pete take it out and then get it on the road. I get back the friday night before the shoot out and I am trying to figure out how to get it there in time. Oh and Gary, I don't think I am going to have any problems consuming fuel :D |
Fuel dipstick
Originally posted by Griff      The boat we have now, although not a high performance boat, was custom built. It has the fuel filler in the deck w/ a direct line into the tank. We had wood dipsticks made so you can unscrew the fill cap, and dip the stick right into the fuel. It gives very accureate readings. The other way to go is with a flow scan, which gives a reading of what the engines are currently burning and how much has been used. I hope that clears things up. There is nothing worse than running out of fuel, especially because most fuel gauges are innacurate. |
