Value of a 24' 3man standup
Have the opportunity to buy a ex-raceboat and curious what they've been going for? havent really been in the market for something like this so I haven't noticed any that were listed or for sale. Any ballpark ideas what it could be worth finished? Fresh paint, motor, drive, etc. $10, 15, 20K???
|
A lot depends on the year, and history, I would like to think $20k complete if done right, but in this market who knows?? Got any other info??

He could give more info on that end... but it was for sale @ 13k. Can't see what u r asking about being worth much more than 17 or so, when the lanier 28 is 'asking' hi 20s. If the boat had significant racing history, and you brought it back to original, IMO you'd be upsidedown on it so fast... sheesh. |

I would have bought it in a second. It is badassed. Cant think of many that are more purpose built. |

mike I think my plan is to acquire every project boat that pops up and NEVER actually get on the water again! LOL
Ya this one's a good deal just working out the details. Mostly complete but will do new power. If I can still get in a couple OPA races this year that would be great. Anyone want a 24 sunsation rocket??? :drink: Bill shot you a PM I'm sure your boat is more $ than I'm looking at but would much prefer a 28'. |
storm just to see it im not selling. plus i read the post wrong i didnt see it said 24 ft.
|
My guess is the yellow 24ft

That's my guess too! I went to look at the yellow one even after I bought mine. We agreed at 7k as a baseline because you never know until you get there. The guy had a story that just didn't work. I knew this boat from way back. It's got a lot of hardware...that's why I was interested. Orig. had CMIs on it and when I went to see it, the boat had modified wet jet boat headers on it. Had some good stuff, but some junk too. I offered $6500 and he would't budge. The impulse in me said I'll meet you in the middle ($6750) and he wanted 7k. Glad I walked away. I hope he's kicking himself!
I like the 3man 24 but just never worked out. oh well |
You guys are too good :lolhit:
Your right it is a project boat and he has been a stickler on the $. Just figured it would be a decent project to put together. Hoped to pick up tomorrow but there is a lien on the title so likely Monday. It is an early 80s boat retitled to mid-90s. |
Right. It had a lien also. Talk to Mark at MER Performance, he and others did all the work to this boat. It has to have serious weight to it, they put mega bulkheads in this boat. It looks really good. Mark said the owner had 75k tied up in this when he was done. Think hull is orig. a 1979. I was okay w/ the yellow, but the turquoise and purple have to go. Maybe a white deck, yellow hull? Good luck with it, I hope you get a good deal.

Any Pics???

Angel As you know, I had the same thoughts a few years ago, and chickened out last minute. I was looking for a car a month or so ago, but just decided to dump some $$ into the boat. I will give ya a call once I figure out if I am taking the boat to the keys or not, but if I do you are welcome to ride, should bo some of the same crazy crew as the last time:drink: Rick |

You buy that? If so congrats.

Yep just got it home. Not doubt its a project but some really good hardware is there and the price was right. Plan is for class 6, likely only Orange Beach for this year.
Its a neat boat and has a lot of race history from what I understand. Seem to recall it was one of the first 3 or 4 pantera built. Retitled as a '95. Should be a fun project. |
#1 on the to do list is losing the 80's teal :lolhit:

Nice!

Hey Nick - did you own this boat at one time? Has "No Limits" across the front fairing.

Too cool. any way to post the video? I plan to call MER again and get some history on this boat. They have a long history with this boat.
Pulling the motor this weekend to see what I got with the boat. |

Your right, the engine is not one of MER's. But he did race this for a bunch of the years it was around. Engine is misc pieces from the Baker Engineering (Cat Can Do) guys, dynoed somewhere around 700hp. Supercat intake AND heads :coolcowboy: Have a porter that is killer with these heads. He did a set for another motor build and made 695hp with just 489" and 9:1 comp. Still pulling at the 6250 mark we stopped at.
Curious to see what crank piston and rods are in this thing. Hopefully not junk. Sat for 2 years so not about to chance firing this thing up and screwing up a bunch of otherwise nice parts. Let me know on those rams, otherwise I plan to list 'em. Project fund dipped a bit low LOL |

No limits send me an email to [email protected] and I will send a pic out to ya.
Waterboy - I agree class 6 could be a big class everyone just needs to come out! Orange Beach should be a good time with FREE racing. Class 5 looks like a riot, wish mine was a 28 not a 24! Once it gets rolling I'll satart a buildup thread. It will be a quick build in hopes of making Orange Beach then a winter build to make things right. |
