new to the Forum
Joey told Me about this site it's pretty neat. I've taken my boat down to Miami a few times and there's not a better boat manufacturer around. They treat you like family. I've got a 28 1998 Pantera, bought it new with twin 310's. Currently in the process of dropping 502's with 580 horse's. Should get it back in the middle of June, can't wait. Joey's been a big help with prop selection and molding Me a new engine hatch. I boat on the upper Chesapeake Bay and enjoy many boat trips to the Jersey Shore. Any Pantera's in the area? Let's get together.

Welcome to the board. While you are at pantera you can look in on the 28 I am having built, it should be at the begining of the paint stage. garyMMM also has a 24 that is down there and should be done soon. Expecting my boat sometime in June also.
Again welcome to the board, there will be more along soon. |

Boating on the upper Chesapeak
We live in Orlando but we have a summerhouse on Carpenters Point. We will be in Maryland starting on the 4th of July. We have an 02 28' with a 600hp it's the one on the web page. Maybe we can get together in July. Your boat is going to fly. I drove a 28 with 500hps with Joey and my wife we and as I remember it 96mph and that was with stock props. Let's see f we can get together as their are several Pantera's on the northeast.

I am in the Iowa.
The boat has no power right now, or seats or steering wheel :D but when it's done it will have all those things and a 575sci with the ITS system. Scroll down a few links and you can follow the progress on the building I think we are around day 83 or 84 something like that, hoping the motor will be here soon and they were supposed to start the paint process yesterday! Post some pics of your boat when you can! |
sorry couldn't see your progress. Your boat sounds pretty wild. Is it going to have a full cabin?

My computer started working again. That is a realy!! good looking Pantera. Look at 98 Pantera's on the site under Dru and You found My boat. Again, good look'in boat.

Welcome to The Forum Dru!
Dru,
Welcome to the Forum! Yes you are right Joey is the best! I im in the process of buying a 28' that is going to be RAW. It will push serious power! Welcome! This is a great site and forum for us Pantera owners! -good luck -PANTERA LOVER |
Hello Dru,
Dru ,
Welcome to the Forum . I am just finishing my 2002 28 Pantera ( actually getting the interior from Linda on Monday) . I have a set of 502 's which have been massaged to 500-550horse power . ( Its hard to tell unless they're dyno'd) I boat in the Barneget Bay between the Manasquan and Barnegat inlets . We can hook up this summer - I have a place on the water in Silverton . I am dying to see what this boat will run . Last year , these motors pushed my 27 Magnum ( 7500+ lbs. ) to 85 mph on the GPS . I changed the cams this year to Comp Cams rollers ( .600" lift ) with shorter duration in hopes of getting my idle quality back . I think they will be down on horsepower but with the 1000+ lbs savings and better weight distribution , I hope to be up in the 90s'. The water test will tell all! Any way , let me know when you will be in the area . We'll hook up at the Waters' Edge Bar for cocktails . JSM |
carbs?
If you guys are running carbs on the 502's what size to get 550-580 hp out of them? thanks, The Ironman.

Carbs
Ironman ,
to get my 500 + hp, I am running 850 Double humps! |
I have been using the 800dp but I think that it is only good for about 525hp so I am going to try a 950. thanks, Ironman.

The Bigger the Better !!!!!!
What motor do you have and in what boat ? I kinda got into this forum late . Sorry if you already told everyone. I build a lot of boat motors and am always interested in finding out what works and what is BS! |
jmemoli
It is a 509" in a 24' alum heads, hyd roller... It should be close to the max cfm of the 800 , at 5500rpms. 850 would probably be good but I found this 980 here on the board that I will try. I did not want to modify the 800 too much because it works really well the way it is set up now and if I run in to problems with bigger carbs I can easily bolt it back on. Ironman.

Boating on the Upper Chesapeak
Dru
I was up on the Chesapeak this past weekend and had blast with some really great people. There was a band on the sand island off of the Haver de gras (sp?) channel on Saturday afternoon. We had about 10 boats rafted and lots of beer. This was a nice warm up for our return with our 28 Dangerkitty. Can't wait to see how your project turns out. If you get done before July 1st look up some of my frinds on the flats. Randy 37 Bahia, Jarret 28 Sunsation they are great people. We will be at the Naughty Goose on the 3rd of July to watch the fire works. |
