36 Staggered 525's - 2011

Saw the 2011 listed at Ducky's, is this the 1st staggered boat? Says it runs 90+, and their side by side listing says 87. Any more info pics?

I had the blue 36' for over 2 years and ran the living **** out of it. I consistently did 91mph. Jo told me he got 92 out of it 1time. I would think the staggered should see 95mph no problem. This boat really needed the staggered set up and should really be a true bad ass.

Can you please explain why a twin engine setup (staggered) is a prefered setup (for performance) rather than the twin (side by side) engine setup of equal HP & torque)......Thanks

weight distribution. changes the center of gravity

DareDevil 01-15-2011 09:47 AM

I think its also less drag since the 2 drives are closer together and work more efficiently behind the boat.
But Yes usually a staggered application, no matter which make is about 4-8 MPH faster with same power.

Need more pictures - Please...

bigboat28 01-15-2011 10:59 AM

Yes, Duckys 36 is at Checkmate and is a twin stagger. I have seen some pics but dont have them anymore. XTInnovations is doing the interior in it. The boat is still at the Checkmate factory. Neversatisfied on here is the one that showed me the pics of the boat.

That does make sense since the picture at the dock was taken at the Sandusky boat ram... They do look to be an awsome boat! I did love that blue one!

If that is the same boat- I've seen it up close at CM a few weeks ago... its awesome and rigging is top notch.

I might be headin back over there in the next couple of weeks- I'll see if its still around.. and if I can get a couple of pics.

bigboat28 01-15-2011 02:01 PM

I just talked to XT by pm a few days ago and he said they would be finishing the interior in the next few weeks, I think.

boatnt 01-15-2011 05:54 PM

Is checkmate rigging the boat??
if they are , why would Pantera Not rig it?

Great Question... I have been asking myself that very same question ever since I heard about this boat being completed at Ducky's... I guess Ducky decided to have the boat built, but wanted to put their own custom touches on it... Will someone please chime in and help me understand why Pantera is not finishing this boat...

All I can say is I was at the factory in November and they were working on a 36,41 and a 28.So I don't know why but I would question it being fact.

JAIME 01-16-2011 01:51 AM

I read along time ago of Pantera selling bare hulls, not the first time. Hopefully they come out lookin great.

Yep,Pantera will sell you a dare hull, spoke with Joe about buying a hull a couple of years back.

it just looks funny that Duckys is a Pantera Dealer and has Checkmate rig Pantera boats..
it would be hard for Duckys to sell me that boat on Panteras racing history when Pantea didnt even rig it..to me its not a TRUE Pantera.

Sorry dont mean to side track thread

bigboat28 01-16-2011 01:13 PM

It is my understanding that Checkmate is doing it all. The pics that I saw was just after the engines had been installed.

Checkmate was able to turn the boat around faster making it a one of a kind custom boat. The boat is 100% immaculate. It also allows Pantera to start building other boats sooner.

Makes no sense,Pantera is in the business to built boats,
Dont want to take a cheap shot at any boat manufacture but I allways looked at Checkmate as a production boat builder and Pantera as a custom boat builder.

jln 01-17-2011 11:37 AM

checkmate is a certified mercury installer . i think you get an year extra warranty on the powertrain. pantera is about the best IMO , but maybe checkmate gave Tom jr. (duckys) a great price to complete the boat. i guess Tom had a good reason. http://www.mercurymarine.com/service...c-boat-brands/

Pantera24 01-17-2011 12:24 PM

Eventually "every" boat will be re-rigged by someone other than the original builder. As long as it's done "right" that's what ultimately matters.

i wonder how many hour's are on the 28 even thow it is a new boat they have had for a long time ?

i hate to say it but with the economy the way it is they will have to sell that 36 for quite a bit less then what there lowered price is.
both nice boat's, but the only boat's that are selling these day's are the one's that are price to steal .

Well to go into all the details on "who did what" on this boat would take a hardback book, but the bolsters came from PPI, we designed the rear bench seating, and motorlid, and Checkmate finished the side pads/cabin interior. The rigging did not go down the normal Checkmate production line either, and I can tell you that it was done right. The boat is finished and delivered to Ducky's now, but still needs a paint job to complete. I have heard nothing but compliments on the performance of the boat. I hope the dealer keeps everyone updated on it.
