I use windaways on my 27 Carrera, instead of clamping brackets
I bolted them in, if I want to remove them it takes about 5 minutes and they are gone. They are about 6" tall and block 70% of the wind if I stand straight up in bolster (I am 6' tall) and about 80% if I just scooch down in bloster a bit. Sitting they block almost all the wind. Eventually I will custom make a taller fairing since mine is so short but for the money you can beat the difference the windaways make. You can see them on my boat (second and third pic down) in these poker run pics: http://www.damncarrera.com/pkrunjuly2010.jpg |

I have a set of flip-ups like shown in Griff's picture. If I get something else made you can have them, might be spring before I get it done though.

I have the same ones as Griff's pictures on my AT and like them except that I would like to lock them down when I don't want them popping up with 50 mph wind. I notice in Griff's picture, there appears to be a latch or something in the center that holds them down when they are not wanted. Can someone explain what this is? If possible a closer view would be greatly appreciated.

I used the same small plastic latch things that are used to hold in window screens and some plastic spacers.

That's what it looked like but I couldn't tell for sure. Did they seem to work out ok? I was thinking that I wanted something that was hidden like a snap or something like that under the top cover but at this point your solution seems to be the best. Thanks

So far windaways and finneys are the only two retail sites I see. Does anyone have info on the manufactorer of the "flip up style"??
|
Don't know who made them, heard livorsi but not sure. I do know that Brian Tillett "Sydwayz" on the Active Thunder site said he has a few left at the factory and wanted to sell them just a month or so ago. If you look around on that site you will find him easily, hope this helps.

I maybe had to give the screw a 1/4 turn a couple times a Summer to keep them tight.
