Re-coating bilge
 

While my engine is out of the boat, I want to re-coat the bilge. It looks like they used an interlux product last, as the bilge is grey. I would redo the entire bilge, but am not taking out all of the hardware, etc., so I am only going to touch it up and keep it grey.

I am looking at the two interlux products: Bilgekote and interprotect 2000E. Any recs on which one might be the best option.

I use awlgrip... more expensive but much more durable... u can roll and brush and it levels out...

carb cleaner will remove interlux... not a fan

How about Bilge Coat ?

awl grip is the most durable.

easy to apply.

easiest to clean.

Awl Grip makes a ton of products - which one is best for bilge?

i believe i used the topcoat/basecoat with a brush converter (levels out)

:sport009: When I had my crankshaft self destruct last June, I had the engine out and took the opportunity to re do the entire Engine Bay.

I have not used Awl Grip and I am sure its terrific, I used Interlux Bilge Cote - to match the grey I blend grey and white to come up with the correct color match.

Turned out awesome, got rid of alot of cosmetic stuff that used to drive me crazy....and took care of some other random items while I was in there.

Also added a Battery Jumper Box, so we can lift the hatch if the batteries take a dump...fit it under the rear seat...

Overall real happy with the paint....I have used BilgeKote in the Donzi for years... never had an issue. Cleans up great.

Good luck...nothing like a spotless engine bay to show off your hardware.

Which alw grip product is best for the bilge?

I Line-x My Last Boats Bilge Yellow But All The Hareware Has To Be Removed And Well Sanded And Preped Great Stuff.
