Looking good!!!

scarab63 06-30-2011 01:25 PM

I'm about ready to dive into the same project. Filling transom hole from trs. Plan to cut bravo hole. Anyone have advice what's a good height if I run a standard dwp bravo?

JO - PANTERABOATS 06-30-2011 03:05 PM

On the 24' model 17 has always worked well with a 3 or 4 blade prop. If you are going to run strictly 4 or 5 blade you can go up another 1/2 to 1 inch.

Getting there. I'm hoping a couple weeks. Doing some wiring, rigging, etc. in bilge. Also redoing nose cone and painting drive. Got to get those done so I can put new steerng on...then drop engine in and hook up. Oh yeh and drop in new/temp. gas tank too. Pics to come later

horrible pic...only got one because it got late. Drive rebuilt. Cleaned up whole drive and also new epoxy on nose cone and fresh paint. Came out really good. 95% rigging done in engine compartment (sorry no pics yet). Engine to go in Mon., Tues. New rams mounted (almost) and getting closer...shooting for Labor Day. Will get better pics next week.

Engine in. Connect tailpipes, mount drive and steering, and install new temp gas tank. Everything came out pretty good. Steering hoses kind of short (off old steering), but they'll have to do for now. Remember, want to go boating THIS weekend. Tomorrow I'll finish wiring, fluids, etc. and fire it up...finally:drink:

Thanks Mange! I like the old set up too. Never had a black one, but I do like the Army 24.

I liked your old pic too! Wish I had the time...would love to go anywhere with the boat. Would like to go to Lake George near you, got an engine guy I'd like to see up that way.

JAIME 09-05-2011 01:32 AM

lookin good. what does it have for hp?

no limits 09-05-2011 08:49 AM

Supposedly it originally was about 575 hp. 496 tall deck, Brodix heads, Weind Team G/Wilson intake, Holley Dominator 1050, Stellings headers, etc. I think around 550 hp now. Runs great but needs rebuild in the future to keep it nice. Haven't had a chance to run it hard since the transom has been redone, but I know it has low 80s in it.

Just bringing this cool thread to the top. Any updates on performance/speed? I like the t-shirt in post 53-Performance Marine in Lake George.

Thanks. I have to thank Johnny for the shirt...great guys. Only got boat out a few times at end of last year, so really didn't get a whole lot of break in time...just enjoyed running it. Probably this year though. I'll probably post a few pics after this weekend. Not too much has changed, but I'll try to get some different shots up.

Awesome, Truly Awesome, thanks for the pics. When I had my 24 I thought so many times if only it was a center steer setup.
