good place to find info on a used boat between 28 an 32ft.
 

OK so I can't afford new. But looking to upgrade from the 28' powerquest I have now. Don't want anything older then the one I have now witch is a 99. Lol I just wanna be able to run faster then 70 lol. Thanks

Why don't you just add power to what you have?

Pantera is not made for speed IMO... 70 seems to be the morm for a half way built single(that eats drives) or if you go with twins your quicker but twice more to break.

70 doesnt eat drives... unless you go to cumberland..with 7 200lb plus guys in the boat...full tank of fuel... couple empty 30 packs.. and 3-4 foot washing machine waves...and a helicopter overhead trying to get some action shots lol...ooops

Pretty sure you mean power quest not pantera - but you would be correct.

Powerquests really don't take to added power well other than one model they call the "silencer".

If you have any other PQ model than that and wish to go fast then you should just get a different boat.

my opinion is if 70 is sufficient for you. your not going to beat a pantera!!!!! ive been in all kinds of boats not to trash anyother brands but you will be hard pressed to beat the ride. warlocks and velocitys of similar size are a little faster but you sacrifice some ride. but they are nice affordable boats. if your going to go much bigger than 28 ft a single engine wont cut it. 28 seems to be the max. i was told a 28 pantera has a very close running surface as a 35 lightning. and my 96 28 rides very similar to my friends 92 35 lighning straight bottom. test dive everything you can and never refuse a ride when someone offers and see what you like. look at all the pros and cons and make a decision. took me 3 years to find a boat that i felt safe in, handled like a porsche and had respectable speed and power. 70 isnt slow by any means, but im a speed junkie so im looking to upgrade to twins. on the other hand the 2x to break doesnt scare me being im a mechanic by trade and do all my own repairs and builds. good luck with your future decisions and purchase!!

Agreed. The drive on the boat when I had it had almost 300hrs on it behind 550hp and a lot of sloppy LOTO water. I had an Imco upper and standard Bravo lower.

Been silent but now your forcing me to chime in ! You all know I'm a Pantera for life guy but I also own a Superboat . I'm also the biggest fan of 30 and under single's . Start putting Big Boy drives on ie Konrad or number 6 and get away from upgraded bravos and let's get some 4 digit HP under the hatch and all these 28 singles will handle anything you throw at them ...
I have 800+ in my Superboat and a Konrad Ace behind it and I'm going to get up to the 1000hp mark and I know my drive will still handle it .. And just so you know , it's not a great day of boating unless I get big air in the ocean or off some yacht wake .
If I can pick up a 28SR one day I will and it's going to be 1000hp single unless a 1350 merc package were to fall of the back of a truck some were .

have you priced out converting to a number 6 ??? i would have a 100k 96 pantera when i got done with a 1000hp and a drive to live behind it... hard to justify when you can buy a twin for half the money. big blower motors are maintance pigs. but i will agree they are a sh!t load of fun. i work on cars for a living.. all day every day ... they last thing i want to do is constantly work on my boat.. rather enjoy it with a cold beer at the end of a long week

If your a hp junkie like I suspect then good luck with leaving it alone.(especially if your comfortable wrenching) I have to purchase a "bone stock" set up and decide that's all it will ever be before I buy in order to leave it as it is. That goes for any Item.

In regards to mega pwr and single Pantera I would advise being very careful about a #6 with a trans and moving the prop away from the factory spot too much. Any drive that needs a trans and converting for that matter. Kirk's Konrad 28 project a few yrs back made me re think what i did for sure I'm not saying it shouldn't be done, I'm just saying you might not get the results you think...
That being said my preference is the big pwr single.
