1 last weekend

so i went to seneca lake for the weekend and enjoyed the 80 and sunshine for one last time this year. i was really shocked because when i stopped for lunch and at the docks at my hotel a bunch of people from the seneca power boat association came up to me and asked a ton of questions about my boat. most of them didnt even think pantera was still in production. anyone else run into that?
i know there arent alot of pantera boats compared to baja and fountain but i thought they were a little more well known. i guess they are just missing out on a great boat!!!

had a great weekend on a beautiful lake boat ran incredible and met alot of nice people!!. perfect end to a fun boating season!!

and its still for sale!!

i'm knee deep in it already. i'm doing the body work on the hull right now. i'll be starting a restoration thread for folks to follow if they please.

here's my little searay i restored about ten years ago. it has a hot rod 306 ford (all roller, fully ported gt-40 heads and edelbrock intake ported to match, holley 4bbl, 7 qt. canton oil pan, bluprinted, etc.....) it's a blast but too small anymore.

Funny i wsas told same thing on friday. this guy told me Pantera hasnt been in business for a while..., well they have not built anything in years..., and that i might be thinking of a different boat or a new owner bought them. I just pointed to my boat and told him i just talked to Pepe last week. He got imbarrased infront of his friends and left to grab a drink.:drink:

vintage chromoly 10-12-2011 03:09 PM

+3 on the additional info needed on the twin turbo setup. post some pics lee!

are you running a mercruiser 1 drive? how fast are you going with the turbos? what prop?

i'm at 55mph on the gps. not fast by off shore standards but clipping pretty good for a boat meant to go 30mph and only 18' in length.

ps. your searay looks really clean!

tinman565 10-12-2011 03:23 PM

I cant believe the vinyl next to them turbos doesnt melt !!!! (sweet setup tho) :drink:

Lee 10-12-2011 04:26 PM

It's a mild 351W +10-12lbs boost, spins a 23p Mirage thru 1.32:1 drive to 6000, still has throttle left but it is a real handful and did not want to rpm the engine any higher.
This winter going to change to a -2 shorty with 1.5:1 and a 28p-30p prop, and dual hydraulic steering.
Boat is all original including the interior.
The vinyl cushion on the left side does not usually touch the water jacketed housings which only get slightly warm, it just slid over when the engine cover was pulled back.

So that thing is running around 85 mph??? Holy ****! Awesome sleeper dude!

Lee 10-12-2011 10:11 PM

No, I think it has a lot of prop slip.

vintage chromoly 10-13-2011 03:36 PM

how fast are you running lee?

Don't know, as it is currently with the small prop and a lot of torque steer maybe 70, after the changes this winter I will get it dialed in and let you know.

Man, this thing would make some of the "fast" outboards, jet boats, and offshores around my neck of the woods pretty butthurt, haha. So awesome.
Got any video clips of it running? I bet it sounds great.

Dude! You've got a lot of pictures of me in there! Which I guess is fair since I've got a picture of Chris in my craigslist ad!

Seeing the picture of my 250 on that flatbed still makes me laugh. What an awesome trip that was... It's one of the reasons I ride a bicycle every chance I get now!

Hope that you get it sold Tim. It was a great boat and my only regret was that I didn't just fix the 525SC and drive it like my daily commuter for the last 4 years... Going faster is an ugly, ugly drug! ha ha.
