Guys, this is the Pantera forum and it is usually pretty civil so take it easy with the nonsense.

bottom line

a 36 Skater with bravos and 525's that has flipped 3 times will not sell for the same cash as a one owner 368 With 1100's and #6's.

just like a high hour 28 with a stock bravo and an engine built by god knows who will not sell for the same money as a boat with an Imco and a low low hour big HP motor.

this doesnt make one boat a POS but it does reflect value. that is all. every boat will break and need work. the ones that dont break are the ones on the trailer or being babied which is not what an offshore boat is for.

Go out and perform some upgrades on your 25k boat and it is going to add up quickly.

I could have bought several boats when I bought mine. I paid a serious premium and bought what I wanted.

Just depends what kind of boat you want to own. You can buy a 28 with a bravo and a 496 and run 60mph or you can buy something badassed....at the end of the day both guys can say they own a 28 Pantera or 36 skater or whatever...

the boat for sale looks nice and clean and provided the motors and drives check out and you can afford to fix what is wrong I wouldnt wait around for years to save 10 grand on a boat that could have hidden issues.....but I guess I like having a boat more than not. :drink:

You probably re-use teabags, smoke cigarette butts you find in the street, and live in your parents house. You dig thru the Salvation Army dumpster at night, and eat at the $3 buffets. You use regular soap to wash your hair (what little you have left) because your too cheap to buy shampoo. You've been darning your own socks since your mom died, and eating Ramen noodles for 6 years straight. Tell ya what...EVERYBODY on here is gonna wait and see what you end up with. Oh, these guys will be keeping a sharp eye out for the deal of the century you end up with. Thats for sure. You better make it good sir....lol. :drink:

Funny

mgh, you need to travel to get one of these panteras.
you will really be limiting yourself by only looking in your state. If you really must only buy local, you should look for a formula or fountain; you'll have better luck w/ a brand that's in greater supply.

And for all the 'steal' hunters, a brand of limited supply will not yield the greatest deals.
Also, you get what you pay for!

GREAT POST ROB!!!!
dru...sorry this turned your thread into a sh!tfest.

two recent 28s in great shape were sold for low to mid 20k's, facts are the facts.

Hmmmm... a single 1995 28 that has been passed down more than i like to think... and hasn't been updated since hotduck had it? I don't think Griff did much to it, except enjoy it.

Thirsty Turtle's, i mean Bullet88s boat is a nice one. But to get it's drive train up to where dru's boat is will take $$, or he may not even want to... or he can take his time.
(Quick math: upgrade 502s to 550hp: $4000ea+$3000ea exhuast, Upgrade to imco internals on B1s($2000ea) Fully Hyd Steering: $4000... and those $s are conservative, ask AR15... who does his work himself.

But some may not like the red interior of dru's boat (subjective)... $3000-5000 for an all white reskin? Wetsand the hull to get full white ($1500?).

And no offense to Bullet 88, but the best deals are going overseas... and Ziemers 24, for 18k was a f'n steal.

You all can compare boats all you want by looking at ads, or comparing notes on these forums, but you have to KNOW what it takes to get a boat where it is.

So mgh had a good line and a good price on an AT.
They make a great boat... BUT why do you think the price was so good? Cause it NEEDED a new transom! So you gave up? A transom should only cost $3000-5000 to fix properly.

Why doesn't someone buy that cheap ass 28 in texas and drop a pair of ilmors w/ indy drives and have PPI do the interior, and have Mel Riggs finish rigging it...
Hull $3000
Engines Drives Interior Rigging $125k.
oops... don't forget to check for moisture... or it will all come apart on your first ride and be at the bottom of the lake. So, throw in $8000 to get the stringers and bulkheads and transom done properly.
Now just ad $20k for a killer paint job.

Oh, and...
Cosmetics are cheap compared to hardware! EVERYTIME!
