Custom hatch 28
 

Well the quest for a raised hatch to hide the "Huffer" is over. I searched high and low and couldn't find what I wanted. I even tried to mock something up in my shop but was never satisfied. ( thanks for your help Scott.)

Anyway, I finally saw a hatch I thought would look cool on my 28. The only problem was it wasn't made for a boat my size.

Let see if you guys can figure out it's origin. :evilb:

I actually didn't build it. I only wish I had that ability.

I can't believe the "Pantera" crowd can't figure out where this hatch was born.

a few nice hints in the pictures of its origin...

Tom "sketched out some ideas for some ventilation. Had them made with the CNC machine at the fab shop."

I was starting to loose faith.


I wet sanded and polished the things till my arms fell off.

Getting closer!

I painted the exposed area with Imron.

I used epoxy to secure the stainless screens to the frame work.

Got the back vents done

very nice work, and its sweet you were able to use parts from within the family

Alot of man hours and thoughts went into building this custom engine hatch for Tom. My Father is great with these kind of special projects. It turned out awesome !

It did turn out great! Defiantly "different" which is what I was looking for. The clearance on the blower is perfect. Thank you Pepe and Jo. :evilb:

Tom - "This project took me about a yr to complete. A ton of time went into it with hatch design and the vent work. Finally got it complete not long ago.

That does look good.

Here are the custom split hatches on the 41' model. Alot of work went to make them also work on Tom's Pantera 28'.

True.....I skipped a few pictures for sure. I think a saw was the popular tool on this job. :D
