Looks great. Love the SR boat. I wish more of them were produced and around.

squaz 11-05-2014 03:03 PM

Sweet video, love the boat,is that from "Thunder on the Bay " this year. This is Guy, I picked up the 2009 36 that was built with your boat this spring and I see you keep it down on the Chesapeake,Norm(Bay Performance) does stuff for me.I use to keep my 2000 28 there and use that ramp for a couple years.Anyway we'll have to get together next season.

mbobb 11-05-2014 04:09 PM

I’ve seen your boat at the Inn before…..cool video and the boat sounds awesome! Wish they still made these things

Wylie-Rat 11-05-2014 09:43 PM

The real question is if Pantera will actually Complete these 2 Boats and if the will they will Really be on Display at the Miami Boat Show, but I would not bet on it...

I truly hope that Pantera can turn their Business Around and make good on some Promises that they have made to some current Pantera Boat Owners - Me being one of them...

I do not want anyone else to be hurt by Pantera and Believe Me when I say that I know that better than you... I defintiley know it better than you... I feel very bad for Berk, but I am still waiting for those guys to make good on some promises that were made to me... I know that it will never happen, but a little Wishful Thinking does not hurt...

This thread is supposed to be about my mans bad ass video of a sweet boat, not to start bashing Pantera again. If you want to save the world from Pantera, start your own thread.

Heres were your trouble started , Chaoscube . I'm assuming this stands for a cuban that has a lot of Chaos around him ? Only 3 post seems a little suspicious to me ! Lets face it theres always going to be a lot of controversy when you start talking about anything happening at Pantera . And just like Jo has done you either deal with it or you move on to other sites .

Wylie-Rat 11-09-2014 11:39 AM

Thanks OCCJoe - Nicely Said my friend...

Interceptor 11-09-2014 06:41 PM

Pantera needs to admit their corrupt business plan before attempting to move forward in the boat building business. The courts found them guilty so admit it.

chaoscube 11-10-2014 02:55 PM

Sorry guys, I didnt want to put some mess here... They told me THEY WOULD LOVE TO...so its nothing confirmed by them. I'm new to this forum and I don't speak English a lot so I'm VERY SORRY for the confusion I made here.

I contacted Pantera for a 28' boat and they sent me this message by email (Jo @ Pantera boats) :

IF you are interested, I have 2) 28' SR's built on the floor that I would love to take to Miami Bch boat show in February.
Rgds,
JO

Awesome video. That SR hull looks great running hard.

Don't send any $$$ down there....

chaoscube 11-11-2014 07:54 AM

Why I should not ? I tought Pantera still had a good reputation these days...

Pismo10 11-11-2014 08:30 AM

Pantera usually does not have a booth at the Miami Show. Have not for years.

If you're looking at buying a new Pantera from anyone associated with the company invest some time here:

CIG3 11-11-2014 09:04 AM

If they have hardware on the floor. Take a trip down there and make the deal. Make payments based on a plan and schedule you both agree to and sign. I can put you in touch with someone in the area to help you out with a build that knows Jo and Pepe well but has no affiliation with Pantera Boats. They build a great boat and are good people. You just have to manage your project from the start.

88bullet 11-11-2014 09:10 AM

bring cash, a trailer and drag one off the boat show floor

From what a friend of mine and a fellow OSO member told me , One of those boats is paid for and supposed to have been done and headed north already .
Pantera does build a great boat and if you are serious about buying one it would probably go ok if you just picked up a hull and had it powered and rigged at a shop close to your home . I think all the builds go bad when the money is missing to pay for power , parts and the contracting of the interior..... http://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...=*igger%20rich..... You'll have to change the * to a different letter to open definition page .... Just Saying

What's the speed on that 28SR? Boat looks very nice running!

Ing 11-20-2014 07:34 PM

It's rigged with a 525 and B1.

I hate to say it Wylie but Paul knows quite a bit. Don't know how much you know but he has first hand knowledge and personal experience. It's not hearsay

Also it has a whipple on top of the 525. There was a thread awhile back of it with the first "lime green whipple"
I think he said it made somewhere north of 750hp and ran 94 (I remember a screenshot of the GPS in the thread).

KarlK 11-21-2014 03:08 PM

mickeymccign is correct, I've stayed off the thread I started after coming back from Key West. My thread turned into a Pantera bashing fest.... Some of us would like to talk about our boats but it seems to many people on here like to play overlord.

mickeymcclgn 11-21-2014 03:44 PM

I would like to know what you think of the 28 stepped bottom. I also boat on the Chesapeake bay so I am familiar with the water conditons, surprised I haven't seen it around actually. And now that you've owned it awhile what are your opinions? With the 525 and now with 750. No pantera bashing just shop talk. Thanks.

with 750 hp that has to be a 95 mph boat I would think ?

You were in key West for the races a few weeks ago? We were there too.

KarlK 11-22-2014 07:07 PM

I hit 93-94 with a Mercury labbed 32 4 blade 1/4 tank of gas my wife and I, cool air, cool water, and a light chop. What shocked me the most was the fact that it tracked like it was on rails. After we put the Whipple on it we hit 90 on the shake out run with a borrowed prop. The Whipple woke the boat up!

The 4 blade was brutal getting on plane. I've switched out to a P-5 29 and hit 87-88 consistently. Fast enough and the mid range punch is great!!

mickeymcclgn, the Chesapeake is like a washing machine :-)
bigboat28, Key West was great! The water Sunday was snotty!!!

BUP 11-22-2014 10:31 PM

I knew Pantera changed the bottom to a stepped bottom so how did they come about the new design ? Did they use the old V hull mold and stick an insert of the steps in that mold ? or redesigned the mold themselves or had one the navel architects design it for them. You just don't throw a step or 2 into a hull bottom to accomplish positive results of all running & handling aspects.. Just asking. In the vid the boat looks like it handles well.

Thats very good numbers for A big single boat! :)

With the stock 525 what speed?

Thanks
Mange

KarlK 11-23-2014 10:21 AM

BUP, I really don't know how they came up with the twin step placement, but they know this hull inside out so? It handles fantastic!

Mange, it ran 78 with the 525 and a P-5 prop before the Whipple, the extra power woke the boat up!

I seem to recall Jo telling me during one of our phone conversations, that the steps are an insert for the mold, and that placement/design was done, for the most part, by Harry Schoell. I have had A LOT of beers between that conversation and now though! This dates back to when they were doing the first vented bottom.
