new 28

Too much money but at least you know it can be bought .... http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Pantera...m=281867585260

Yep - I found that boat for sale awhile back... I also agree, Priced a little high and from the Pics it looks to already need some Extra TLC...

slpcamaross97 11-30-2015 04:56 PM

I also seen it a few months ago and that was why i listed my F1 boat. But no sale so i had to pass on the SR. But 39k really is not that bad. It has a lot of rigging. I was planning on making a cover girl cabin, simple power and IMCO drive.

Boat $ 39,000
Upholstery/seating $ 12,000
Stock 525 package $35,000
Rest of hardware $15,000
Labor. $5,000-10,000
Total by splash $90,000
Not that good of a deal ! Now you could swap shop for parts . Used hear and there . And not finish the cabin . Maybe get out for about $75k but then you would have basically paid top dollar for a new hull to build a used boat .
Boat would be a deal at $25 k . You could build it the way it needed to be built and have about $75,000 in it .
I wish someone would buy it and start a build thread . We could use some Pantera activity ..

I agree if you wanted a new boat it would add up quick. But, if you went with older/custom power and rebuilt Mr Gadgets drive you could save some coin. I know people in the upholstery business and could cut that figure in at least half if I helped. I could do most of the labor myself. I think the miscellaneous hardware could add up quick though!

But, I have neither the time or the money so someone needs to buy it for a project!

Want to ask who is posting the newer step 28 boat on Pantera facebook page as of late ?

Did someone buy the molds and a possible start up ? I have no idea and why all of sudden a 28 pops up on the FB page. I know it was built about 2 years ago if I recall correctly.

Ing 12-01-2015 11:31 AM

Looks like its sitting at the Concept Factory. If someone was to jump on it I'm sure Luis and his team could do a fantastic job finishing the rigging.

BUP 12-01-2015 11:59 AM

Just saying as the ad states it was the last hull built by them - This Hull manu was Feb 2012 - I thought they (Pantera) built something after that ?

Was nt the 28 with recessed hull leds lites the last build ?

paul buckner 12-01-2015 12:54 PM

I think the side inserts were only layed up in one boat it may of been the first one they did with steps .
They do look cool .

WildThing 01-14-2016 09:15 PM

Too bad this never got finished

3 Stupid questions for the hard core speed merchants but.......

If a 496 HO was the biggest available power plant, what sort of cruise and top speeds could one expect?

Is it sacrilegious to take a boat with this pedigree and underpower it? What if the owner just wanted an excellent hull with a bit of old school style that cruised comfortably in the slop and was low maintenance?

RR

class6 01-15-2016 05:41 AM

It would be a awesome boat with a 496HO.

Don't really want to own two boats at the same time but have a half a chance of selling my current boat at the moment. Looking for the biggest deep v that will run ok with a single 496 HO. Can't buy or service blue motors here and happy to look at a simple project. At least the transom and stringers should be fine in this one!

Water is pretty rough here most days so I need waterline length, deep V and weight. Pantera offers that but I'm concerned after a modest fit out, she may be pretty heavy for the power......

Any input is appreciated.

RR

Craney 01-15-2016 05:05 PM

This just guess but with a 496HO low to mid 60s.

OCCJoe 01-15-2016 07:10 PM

You've got the best person right here on this thread to answer that question . Wild Thing had a non stepped 28 with a 496 in it . Talk to him and just add 5mph to his numbers .

Thanks for that, sounds like just the right man.
If he doesn't check in here, I'll PM him.

Craney's thoughts above are reasonably encouraging, If Wild Thing concurs, I might have a bunch more questions for you guys, you all know more about Pantera than I do....

The boat is now listed on Yachtworld and Ing was right about Concept Marine.

Thank you,
RR

Set back.....

Priced a complete package today from the Merc dealer. 496ho with bravo 1X. 1,384,000 Thai baht excluding prop. That's about 39,500 USD or for an Aussie like me, 55,300 AUD. I also inquired vaguely about an ITS transom steering and they said they would need to contact Singapore to see how much for Merc Racing parts and if it was even possible in Thailand.

What's the same package worth in America? Any rough idea?

Powering in the U.S. Is probably a lot cheaper but then shipping costs and vat will blow out considerably.

This is looking very unlikely at the moment but thanks for the recent input.

RR

class6 01-16-2016 09:01 AM

from what I have seen, you can get a 496ho, B1x with ITS for a crack over 26k + tax and shipping in the lower 48

bigboat28 01-16-2016 02:56 PM

There is a complete 502 mag and drive set up in the swap section for 9500.

Out There 01-17-2016 06:55 PM

This boat is going from Concept to a broker early this week. Concept was helping out the owner. Make an offer now if interested or broker commission will be involved.
Spoke to Concept Friday

Thanks for the heads up Pantera572 but the cost of the engine/drive package here has got re-thinking. Must be somebody out there ready to make an offer. Start low, you never know?
I still think it's an opportunity for someone to set up a legendary boat exactly how they want.

Is this the Factory-1 28 with the step?
Where is it now?

Gordo 01-28-2016 12:05 PM

At the risk of opening myself up to bad-memory jokes, (I've heard em all), I thought there was a Factory-1 boat with a step that raced APBA?
